This beautiful weather that we are having is having us reminiscing about last summer, when the garden was in full bloom and growth!๐ฑ๐ฟโ๏ธ
We were able to donate around 790 lbs of produce to Just Foods in Lawrence last year! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
We hope to increase the amount this year! And have plans to make that happen!
If you would like to be a part of the community garden (especially KU students -- Undergraduate and Graduate, alike), just shoot us a message and we can add you to our email list for future service events!

For those who couldn't attend, here is the information slide we shared at the meeting with details about renting an individual bed (~ 2 x 4 m) for the growing season. Space is limited to 15 individual beds and larger garden plots have been already filled by returning members. Please email us ([email protected]) if you are interested in renting a plot with your KU affiliation (e.g. KU grad student in the EEB department) by Monday, March 22nd. First come, first served as space is limited and not guaranteed with priority to current KU students/faculty/staff! We will contact you via email the rental assignment/garden map by Friday, March 26th with information about new Microsoft Teams page for active members/"renters"!

Interested in gardening or a socially distanced activity for you and your friends this summer? The KU Community Garden (KUCG) offers a wonderful outdoor space to get away from the stress of school and the pandemic. Located in north Lawrence next to the KU Native Medicinal Garden, the KUCG offers space for students to grow their own fruits and veggies in exchange for their time helping maintain community donation plots. We offer flexible time commitments with several community workdays throughout the growing season. Students may apply for plots as individuals or as a group or sign-up to volunteer on community workdays. We have a diverse group of students with a variety of knowledge and experience in gardening and we will offer you resources to help get your garden started! All majors, backgrounds, experience levels are welcome. We comply with KU and CDC guidelines to keep the garden a safe space where we can all continue to grow and flourish in these difficult times. For more information, come to our informational meeting on March 12th, from 11-12 (DM or email for zoom info). If you can't make it, email at [email protected]

Spring is right around the corner which means the gardening game is back on!! Weโre getting lots of seeds started in the greenhouse: broccoli, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, and lots more to nourish our souls and bodies! Soon weโll move them to the garden where they will continue their journey to harvest. Look out for a future post with details about how you can get involved this season!

Thank you to everyone who came to the garden to help close out the 2020 season today!! It was a super productive year with lots of food grown, bellies filled, and friendships made! We even donated over 967 lbs of produce to local food bank , which is nearly a $5,000 value! Thanks to everyone who made this possible!
