Free State High School Band

The Nora, Cleo, and Zacha!!! started their summer by attending the 2026 Kansas City Leadership Team Symposium. They worked on their conducting and leadership skills to get ready for the upcoming marching season.

Big congratulations to all the FS band students who participated in Midwestern Music Camp this week. Great concerts were given by each group. Extra congratulations to Blake Gwartney and Patricia Cooper who were awarded outstanding musicianship awards!

Rehearsal this Tuesday for anyone in marching band. If you haven’t picked up your marching instrument yet, come early to rehearsal. See you there!

Junior trumpet player, Cleo Green, played taps at a local Memorial Day ceremony this morning. We love seeing our students use their talents to serve the community.

Please join us for our spring band concert next Monday, May 11th at 7pm in the auditorium. Students have been working very hard and are playing some exciting music!

We were very fortunate today to be joined by musicians from the Navy Band Great Lakes in wind ensemble. They played along with us and gave feedback on our concert music and also performed woodwind and brass quintet music. It was a fantastic experience for students to play alongside and learn from some professional musicians.
