The Oliver Elementary School is a community of students, families, and educators committed to the social-emotional and academic growth of our 475 unique learners. We view students and their families from a holistic, strength-based lens, understanding there are many factors that impact learning. We believe that all students, families, and educators deserve a voice within our school community; we im

plement restorative justice practices to build relationships and solve challenges collaboratively. Our staff incorporate center-based learning through a multi-modal frame to promote language, independence, authentic engagement, executive functions, and socialization. We understand how critical access to grade level content is for all students, and work together to plan meaningful, instructional scaffolds that ensure students can engage in deep learning. At OES, adult learning is as important as student learning; educators engage in weekly/ bi-weekly coaching sessions to support their individual needs and the collective goals of the school. When entering the doors at OES, students and families feel their students are held to high expectations and are deeply cared for as individuals.

La escuela Oliver Elementary es una comunidad de estudiantes, familias y educadores comprometidos con el crecimiento social-emocional y académico de nuestros 475 estudiantes únicos. Vemos a los estudiantes y a sus familias por una perspectiva holística basada en las fortalezas, entendiendo que hay muchos factores que afectan el aprendizaje. Creemos que todos los estudiantes, familias y educadores merecen una voz dentro de nuestra comunidad escolar; implementamos prácticas de justicia restaurativa para construir relaciones y resolver desafíos de manera colaborativa. Los educadores se sienten empoderados, conectados y apoyados en su trabajo. Al entrar por las puertas de OES, los estudiantes y las familias sienten que sus estudiantes están sujetos a altas expectativas y que reciben un profundo cuidado como individuos.

Fifth Grade students at Oliver Elementary spent the week traveling back in time to 1912 to research and study the Lawrence Textile Mill Strike. Through reading Bread and Roses, Too and analyzing primary sources from the Public Library and the Heritage State Park, students learned the impact the strike had on the community. As a culmination of their learning students wrote narratives from different perspectives of the strike and made loaves of bread.

Congratulations to Alaina Guzman our Artist of the Week! This Oliver Elementary School student was inspired by photos of animals in the piece "Alligator in the City" done in marker and oil pastel. Very creative!
