The OMA's No Burnout November Presents:
As part of No Burnout November, the OMA proudly presents BIPOC Healing Yoga! Join us on Nov. 10 (or Nov. 18) in the SMRC classroom at 3:30pm for a relaxing afternoon of yoga led by Community Member and yoga instructor Mariel!
Mariel (she/her) has been leading the BIPOC Yoga class in Lawrence for nearly two years, a tradition started with the intention of centering our healing and joys as an act of both resilience and liberation. This is an affinity space for all folks of color who are interested in coming to stretch, ground, and revenged. No prior experience is needed to join! Bring a yoga mat if you can and we look forward to seeing you there!
As always, we encourage anyone and everyone in the KU community to participate in our events. If you have any questions regarding accessibility or accommodations, please contact the OMA at [email protected] or (785) 864-4350.

The Ferguson Forum is always excellent!
Join the OMA as we host Johnetta Elzie for our annual Ferguson Forum! The Forum began as a way to gather and acknowledge the anniversary of the murder of Michael Brown and the protests and Movement that followed. A week from today we will be hosting this event to facilitate conversations to discuss where we are in the Movement, where we want to be, and the emotional and physical ways it impacts us as a community.
Our special guest, Johnetta Elzie, is a protestor, organizer, and writer known for her activism and organizing in Ferguson following the murder of Michael Brown.
Catch us on Zoom or in person in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Memorial Union for this event from 1:00-3:00pm next Tuesday, September 14th. We hope to see you there!

Fantastic piece from Dr. Kelly Chong!
Even in Kansas, Asian Americans have long lived under a cloud of racism and violence
Think even the chair of the Sociology Department at KU is safe from discrimination? Think again.
