This is where storybooks are a great resources for words that may be rarely used in your day-to-day language with your child. When you come across a word that you think (or know) your child hasn’t heard before or might not understand, instead of trying to think of a synonym, go ahead and read the word as it is. These infrequently used words will only help to strengthen your child’s vocabulary!
