Monica Ellis has been on campus only one day and has already shared with us so much of her artistry and expertise! Get a glimpse of her coaching a reed quintet and saxophone quartet, leading a Q&A session about her career path and entrepreneurship, and an invaluable masterclass with the KU bassoons. Her recital is tonight at 7:30pm with Prof. Ellen Sommer (livestream link below). You do not want to miss this!!!

We're so thrilled to welcome the incredible Monica Ellis on campus this week for a residency! In addition to teaching bassoon lessons, Ms. Ellis will present during REC 100, provide a studio masterclass, coach KU chamber groups and perform a guest recital. All events are free and open to the public!

We're so excited to host Mr. Stees next week for a 3-day residency! Events include lessons for all KU bassoonists, a reed making seminar, REC 100 presentation, and a studio masterclass. All group events are free and open to all community members, not just bassoonists!

The KU bassoon studio is excited to announce Mackie Thomas will be our Interim Instructor of Bassoon for the upcoming year! She will begin this new position in addition to finishing her DMA degree in bassoon at KU, where she previously earned her Master's in Music. Congratulations and Rock Chalk!

The Symphonic Band had their final concert of the semester.
The Symphony Orchestra performed as part of KU’s 98th annual Vespers performance.

Congratulations to our 2022 BA in Music Performance and BS in Biology graduate, Olivia Van Winkle! Following graduation, Olivia plans on applying to medical school and eventually work as a pediatrician!
