☀️ SUMMER HIKING SAFETY IN PHOENIX ☀️
Arizona’s desert trails are beautiful — but during the summer months, they can quickly become dangerous or even deadly without proper preparation.
Every year, hikers in the Phoenix metro area experience heat exhaustion, dehydration, and heat stroke due to extreme temperatures that can exceed 110°F.
Before you hit the trail, remember these critical safety tips:
🥤 Bring MORE water than you think you need
🧢 Wear light-colored clothing, sunscreen, and a hat
📱 Fully charge your phone before hiking
🥾 Stay on marked trails
🌄 Start hikes EARLY in the morning
🚫 Avoid hiking during Excessive Heat Warnings
👥 Never hike alone if possible
🐕 Protect your pets from hot surfaces and heat exposure
🛑 Know the warning signs of heat illness:
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Confusion
• Heavy sweating or no sweating at all
If you begin feeling sick, STOP immediately, find shade, hydrate, and call for help if needed.
The desert is unforgiving — but with preparation and smart decisions, you can safely enjoy Arizona’s incredible outdoor beauty.
Preparedness saves lives. Stay safe, stay aware, and respect the heat.

Someone suddenly collapses… no pulse… not breathing 😳
👉 What you do in the FIRST 60 SECONDS can DOUBLE or TRIPLE their chance of survival.
👨🚒 From a 30-year emergency management professional:
Most people hesitate—and that hesitation can cost a life.
🚑 CPR BASICS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
✔ Call 911 immediately
✔ Push HARD & FAST in the center of the chest
✔ Aim for 100–120 compressions per minute
✔ Push at least 2 inches deep
✔ Don’t stop until help arrives or an AED is ready
⚡ PRO TIP:
If you’re not trained, Hands-Only CPR (just chest compressions) can still save a life.
