I am an NEA member and I live in [City]. I am calling to ask that Senator [Last Name] remove the DHS funding bill from the appropriations package.

While I support strong funding for education, I strongly oppose the Homeland Security portion of this package. It includes hundreds of millions of dollars in additional funding for ICE without any meaningful oversight or accountability.

As an educator, I see the harm these actions have caused: fear in our communities, students missing school, and real damage to learning and well-being.

The continued violence in Minneapolis underscores why Congress should not increase DHS funding without strong guardrails or reforms.

Please oppose the appropriations package as currently written and push for an agreement that funds education without expanding unchecked DHS enforcement. Thank you for your time.
