SCAM ALERT!

The Laurens Police Department is aware of recent reports involving young males going door-to-door in the community requesting donations on behalf of the Sanders Middle School football team.

Sanders Middle School is not conducting an official neighborhood fundraising campaign at this time. The individuals involved are acting independently and are not authorized by the school or football team to collect money or donations.

This matter is currently under investigation. We encourage residents to use caution and not provide money or donations to individuals claiming to represent Sanders Middle School.

If you have information regarding the individuals involved, including video footage, vehicle information, or other details that may assist with the investigation, please contact the Laurens Police Department.

We appreciate the community’s assistance and cooperation as we work to determine the circumstances surrounding these incidents.

Very Important Update:

Due to the accumulation of snow, refreezing, and safety hazards caused by the weather, Laurens County School District 55 will operate on eLearning tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

When determining if roads are safe to travel, we take the following into consideration:

We have several hundred student drivers.
We have 25% of our staff traveling in from outside Laurens County.
Buses transport 2000+ students and have to be on the road around 6 AM (before daylight).

All schools will open two hours later than normal, and bus routes will also run on a two-hour delay.

The Student Nutrition Services Department will be offering breakfast to all students.

Yesterday a group of high school students and CARE students traveled to Walmart to shop with community volunteers and members of the Sheriff’s Department.
Huge thanks to the Sheriffs Department for allowing us to partner with them to help fulfill the Christmas lists of local children.
Always great things happening at LPA
