✨ Learning Through Light and Imagination ✨

The children explored a fascinating world of light, shadows, and storytelling using mini people and a lights. As they moved the figures around, they created their own stories, built relationships between characters, and experimented with how light changed what they saw.

What may look like simple play is actually rich learning. Children are developing language skills as they narrate their stories, strengthening social-emotional skills as they collaborate with peers, and building critical thinking skills as they investigate cause and effect. The lights also encourages observation, creativity, and scientific inquiry as children explore shadows, colors, and perspectives.

Through open-ended experiences like these, children become curious researchers, imaginative storytellers, and confident learners. Play truly is the work of childhood. 💡👧👦

Pretend play is so much more than just fun in preschool. It is an essential part of children’s development. Through imaginative play, children learn to communicate, solve problems, express emotions, build friendships, and explore the world around them. Whether they are pretending to cook in a kitchen, care for babies, or become doctors and superheroes, they are developing creativity, language, confidence, and important social skills. Play truly is the work of childhood, and every moment of pretend play helps build a strong foundation for future learning.

El juego simbólico en preescolar es mucho más que diversión. Es una parte esencial del desarrollo infantil. A través del juego imaginativo, los niños aprenden a comunicarse, resolver problemas, expresar sus emociones, crear amistades y explorar el mundo que los rodea. Ya sea que estén cocinando en una cocinita, cuidando bebés o imaginando ser doctores y superhéroes, están desarrollando su creatividad, lenguaje, confianza y habilidades sociales importantes. El juego realmente es el trabajo de la infancia, y cada momento de juego simbólico ayuda a construir una base sólida para el aprendizaje futuro.

I completed my Master in Early Childhood Education.
As an immigrant, this journey was never simple. I arrived in this country learning how to build a new life, learn a new language, navigate a new culture, create a family and pursue an education that took many years. There were moments of doubt, exhaustion, sacrifice and fear, but also moments filled with hope, resilience, and purpose.
What began as a dream became a mission.
Through this journey, I created AIBCC, a childcare center rooted in high quality bilingual education, diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion and belonging. A place where children and families from all backgrounds feel seen, valued, respected, and celebrated. A place that recognizes that language and culture are strengths, not barriers.
This accomplishment is also deeply connected to something I advocate every single day which is elevating the field of childcare and early childhood education. Early educators are essential! We are essential to children, families, communities, country’s economy, and the entire educational system. Childcare educators work tirelessly with passion, professionalism, and heart.Many educators in childcare are determined to continue learning, growing, and bringing higher quality care and education to children and families. We are not “less than” because we work in childcare. We are leaders, advocates, educators, and life long learners. When opportunities for higher education become accessible, educators rise, and entire communities benefit.
