We are starting the Tyndale Latin Club at Laurel Christian School!

Students are coming together to learn Latin, discover the roots of our English language, collaborate on club projects, and engage with the ancient Roman world. This kind of experience not only makes learning fun and gives real joy to students, but it brings the children in our community closer to the foundations of our civilization, all from a Christian worldview. Great Works endure because they have something important to say.

The vision of the Literature Program at Tyndale is to invite children to experience Great Books from a young age, engaging in the great conversations of literature and humanity through a classical, Christian worldview.

This year, children are invited to dive into the world of Ancient Literature, our first full-year literature course.

Ancient Literature is not designed as a supplemental or enrichment class. Students will spend the school year reading multiple substantial works, discussing them together, and writing about the ideas and questions they encounter.

Our goal is to challenge students to read rigorously, think deeply, and express their ideas clearly. We’ll explore the historical and cultural contexts surrounding each work while keeping literature at the heart of the course through reading, oral narration, group discussion, and weekly writing.

Registration is officially open for the 2026–27 school year at Tyndale Classical Institute!

Here are a few of the exciting changes coming this year:

Classes will be held in the morning and early afternoon to better serve homeschooling families.

New entry-level Latin classes are available for beginners ranging in age from 6 to 15.

Literature students will embark on a rigorous journey through Ancient Literature with Tyndale’s Literature Program Director, Mrs. Katie Gustafson.

Mrs. Katie is offering one-on-one composition tutoring to help students sharpen their writing and rhetorical skills.

While the Institute is no longer offering scholarship pricing across all classes, we remain committed to helping families find a way to become part of the Tyndale community. Please see our class registration webpages for more details.

Tyndale is launching a new virtual Commons: a dedicated space for our community to connect, communicate, and grow together.

Classes begin September 14.

Our Week with the Ancients Camp (Voyage of the Dawn Treader edition) was a joy-filled experience, full of learning, worship, and friendship.

We are so grateful for memories made at the Tyndale schoolhouse here in Laurel this summer and for the opportunity to explore what Goodness, Truth, and Beauty are from a Christian worldview.

Thank you, JCo Worship, for writing and teaching us this special camp song. It brought so much wonder to the camp experience and will help us always remember what we’ve learned!

Set sail with Tyndale Classical Institute on a Narnian voyage this summer!

This month, we’re hosting a one-of-a-kind camp as we explore Truth, Goodness, and Beauty through C. S. Lewis’ beloved classic, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Designed for children ages 6 to 12, this three day camp invites students to discover how great stories point us toward the greatest Story of all. Children will learn through literature, hands-on activities, crafts, music, daily Bible lessons, and meaningful discussions from a classical, Christian world view.

Who: Ages 6 to 12

Where: Tyndale Schoolhouse, Laurel, Mississippi

When: Monday, July 20 - Wednesday, July 22, 2026

Time: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each day

One day of our upcoming summer camp will focus on Goodness—its source and the path toward it. Students will learn about God’s good creation, the curse of sin that man brought upon it, and the dragonish nature that we all now have. Ultimately, like Eustace Scrubb in Lewis’ Voyage of the Dawn Treader, we will learn that Jesus came for us as the perfect man to be our Good, so that in Him, we can be made into a new creation entirely.

The last day of this summer’s WEEK WITH THE ANCIENTS summer camp will center on the beauty (the order and radiance) that is woven in all of creation and ultimately found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Chronicles of Narnia, the Utter East represents Heaven, the place where God dwells and, one day, all of His children will dwell with Him. Through the curious character of a small mouse named Reepicheep, Lewis teaches us to keep the beauty of Heaven in our eye while we live here on Earth.

At camp, we will teach students that Jesus is the source of all beauty, and by loving Him, we can learn to see and understand the beautiful order and radiance that surrounds us.
