This fall, high school students are invited to a four-week “feast” of good conversations inspired by C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, and Owen Barfield.
Over afternoon tea, we’ll explore questions about Christianity, creativity, imagination, and storytelling. Why do myths matter? What does it mean to create as Christians? How can imagination help us encounter truth, goodness, and beauty?
Each gathering will center on a short reading, thoughtful discussion, and opportunities to exercise our own imaginations through light creative writing prompts. This is an enrichment elective, so the outside workload is intentionally light. The heart of the class is gathering around the table, thinking deeply together, and enjoying good conversations.

Happy National Hobbit Day! Hobbits are admirable for their loyalty, humble courage, and delight in the simple, good things: growing gardens, sharing meals, and enjoying fellowship. They remind us how much there is worth protecting in an ordinary life.

The Inklings were writers and thinkers who championed the imagination, especially imagination shaped and renewed by Christian faith.

The Latin phrase “E Pluribus Unum” translates into English as “Out of many, one.” The phrase was used by ancient Roman writers like Cicero and St. Augustine, and a committee of our nation’s founding fathers selected it to be the motto of the United States.

Our nation’s heritage is deeply rooted in the past and in the ancient languages that pervaded them.

The Inklings: Christian Imagination & Storytelling

October 14–November 4 | Wednesdays | Grades 9–12

*Meeting time on Wednesdays will be determined based on the availability of interested students.*

High school students are invited to join Mrs. Katie for a four-week elective exploring the ideas and imaginations of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, and Owen Barfield. Part literature and part philosophy, this short course will explore how the Inklings approached Christianity, writing, creativity, and the idea of the redeemed imagination, considering how imagination and storytelling can help us encounter truth, goodness, and beauty in fresh ways.

Each weekly gathering will center on a short work or essay, thoughtful discussion, and afternoon tea. Weekly writing prompts will give students the opportunity to play with these ideas and exercise their own imaginative thinking.

This is designed as an enrichment elective rather than a full literature course, so readings and assignments will be short and the outside workload will be light.

Early Bird: $80 through September 30

We are starting the Tyndale Latin Club at Laurel Christian School!

Students are coming together to learn Latin, discover the roots of our English language, collaborate on club projects, and engage with the ancient Roman world. This kind of experience not only makes learning fun and gives real joy to students, but it brings the children in our community closer to the foundations of our civilization, all from a Christian worldview. Great Works endure because they have something important to say.

The vision of the Literature Program at Tyndale is to invite children to experience Great Books from a young age, engaging in the great conversations of literature and humanity through a classical, Christian worldview.

This year, children are invited to dive into the world of Ancient Literature, our first full-year literature course.

Ancient Literature is not designed as a supplemental or enrichment class. Students will spend the school year reading multiple substantial works, discussing them together, and writing about the ideas and questions they encounter.

Our goal is to challenge students to read rigorously, think deeply, and express their ideas clearly. We’ll explore the historical and cultural contexts surrounding each work while keeping literature at the heart of the course through reading, oral narration, group discussion, and weekly writing.

Registration is officially open for the 2026–27 school year at Tyndale Classical Institute!

Here are a few of the exciting changes coming this year:

Classes will be held in the morning and early afternoon to better serve homeschooling families.

New entry-level Latin classes are available for beginners ranging in age from 6 to 15.

Literature students will embark on a rigorous journey through Ancient Literature with Tyndale’s Literature Program Director, Mrs. Katie Gustafson.

Mrs. Katie is offering one-on-one composition tutoring to help students sharpen their writing and rhetorical skills.

While the Institute is no longer offering scholarship pricing across all classes, we remain committed to helping families find a way to become part of the Tyndale community. Please see our class registration webpages for more details.

Tyndale is launching a new virtual Commons: a dedicated space for our community to connect, communicate, and grow together.

Classes begin September 14.
