In June of 2018 after many months of long conversations followed by months of trying to navigate the regulation process of the state, we opened the doors of Happy Trails Summer Camp and Aftercare. We had no idea what the future would hold for our first small business as a family, but after a lot of sleepless nights, tears, and prayers we knew this was our path at that time. We have been beyond blessed to have almost seven successful years of serving our community as an option for their children’s after school care as well as an all day summer camp. Through the years we have been blessed to meet so many wonderful families and their little ones, many of which we have watched go from kindergarten to middle school, then some from 6th grade to juniors and sophomore’s in high school. Our summer camps were always filled with some adventures from field trips to kick ball tournaments with other summer camps( which we won 😉) and let’s not forget ice cream Thursdays as well as water Wednesdays.
Sadly, as with many great things they do come to an end. We were informed that our building would no longer be available to lease after November. We had kiddos until Wednesday of this week due to Thanksgiving break, so we have been busy removing almost 7 years of our lives from the building over a couple days. While it has been totally unexpected and a bit stressful, God’s timing is always perfect. Sometimes He answers our prayers and it’s not at all what we have in mind, but once we step back and really take a look at what’s happening, we realize He is doing what’s best. Jada was ending her kindergarten year and going into 1st when we started, and now she’s in middle school (😱). So our lives are completely different than they were 6.5 years ago and we are ready to roll into this next chapter.
As we close this one chapter and move onto the next, we would like to say “Thank you” first and foremost to the families that have trusted us with their most prized possessions. Without you guys there would have never been a need. Thank you to the schools who have been so accommodating(most the time 😉) with our pick up routes. Thank you to all of the employees over the years who have lost a bit of their sanity while with us, we truly could have never done this with each of you. Finally, thank you God for allowing us this opportunity to serve a need.
The trail ends here, and we are still happy 😊
-Love,
Josh, Amber, & Jada B
