Now there are nearly 200 students being instructed and groomed in patterns that will ensure each child's successful preparation for future educational endeavors and for adulthood. Mann (Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church) and the generosity and dedicated interest of Jane Rogers Hynson (granddaughter of the original owners of the home), the Day School contin

Girded by a philosophy of moral and spiritual values and committed to the academic, physical, and cultural pursuits necessary to a well-rounded education, St. John's enjoys a special heritage as it progressively moves into its fifth decade. While there are many things about St. John's we would like you to know, perhaps the most important is that we are a family. Teachers here know not only the names of their current and past students, but of all the students in the school. Generation after generation return to St. John's and the warm loving educational environment that it provides its students. Students return to visit during special events and don't miss a May Day reunion if they can help it...

Something BIG is coming to science at St. John’s. 🔬🚀

This year, we’re taking science beyond the textbook, beyond the classroom…and just a few steps down the street.

We’ve partnered with an organization whose work has reached thousands of schools and students and includes collaborations with names like NASA.

And the best part?

They’re headquartered right here in Laurel.

We can’t wait to show you what science looks like at SJDS this year.

Crescent City Page & Play is a brand-new business coming soon to downtown Laurel, bringing books, toys, play, and plenty of fun to our community—and we are so grateful that they chose to support St. John’s before their doors have even opened!

We loved celebrating our outstanding students who earned ALL A’s during the final nine weeks of last school year! In recognition of their hard work and academic achievement, these students were treated to a special Headmistress Breakfast, complete with yummy food, candy, gift cards, and a few fun surprises!

We are so proud of these Crusaders and the dedication they showed to finish the year strong. Congratulations!

What a fun night! 💚✨ Our Parents’ Social was the perfect mix of new families getting to know one another and longtime St. John’s families reconnecting—all while enjoying live music, beautiful refreshments, and a fantastic silent auction!

Best of all, every dollar raised through tickets, beverage sales, and the silent auction goes directly back to our school to support our students throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this evening possible, and an extra-special thank you to our Parents’ Club President, Barclay Hudgens, who truly goes above and beyond to make wonderful things happen for St. John’s. We are so grateful! 💚

Our SJDS Parents’ Club Back-to-School Social is this Thursday from 6–9 PM at the Rogers-Green House!

Parents, grandparents, alumni, friends of St. John’s — everyone is welcome. Come meet, mingle, catch up and enjoy a fun night with our St. John’s family.

We’ll also have our silent auction with some really fun, one-of-a-kind SJDS experiences and items up for grabs — so come ready to bid! All proceeds help Parents’ Club continue supporting our school, teachers and students throughout the year.

And don’t let childcare stop you! The kids can hang out in the gym with Mrs. Nikki and Mrs. Marcia for some fun of their own while you walk right down the street to the Rogers-Green House.

🎟️ One of our HOTTEST silent auction items is back!

Last year, our Teacher for a Day experiences were a HUGE hit! Students stepped into the shoes of their favorite teachers—from classroom teachers to our librarian and art teacher—complete with their own official badge. They helped lead the class, reinforce the rules, and experience a school day from the other side of the desk. 🍎

And ever since, we’ve had students asking us one very important question:

“How do I get to be Teacher for a Day?!”

The answer? Tell your parents to come to the St. John’s Parents’ Social on August 20! 💚

Teacher for a Day will be just ONE of the fun experiences up for bid in this year’s silent auction.

And the best part? Every dollar raised through the Parents’ Social goes right back into St. John’s. 🎒 Blessing of the Backpacks 🎒

Join us for our first chapel of the school year on Wednesday, August 19, as we celebrate one of our favorite back to school traditions, the Blessing of the Backpacks!

Students in K3 through 6th grade will gather in the gym, where Father Jeff will offer a special blessing over our students and their backpacks as we begin a new year of learning and growing together.

Our K2 students will take a little more time to settle into their new school routines and will not attend chapel just yet.

Parents are warmly invited to join us! And students, don’t forget: Wednesdays are chapel days, so wear your green!

We look forward to beginning this school year together in prayer and with grateful hearts.
