With nearly 20 years of experience as an elementary, middle, and high school teacher, a junior high and high school administrator, and a small business owner, JEREL WADE has the proven knowledge and leadership skills to make Jones County Schools a model district for Mississippi. WADE believes in supporting teachers, keeping the classroom safe and orderly, teaching a comprehensive K-12 curriculum,
and promoting the successes of students, teachers, parents, and supporters. Having started his career at Shady Grove Elementary, WADE moved to West Jones Middle School where he was chosen as Tech Prep Teacher of the Year in 1999. During the 1999-2000 school year, he served as the boy's soccer coach and won Coach of the Year honors for the district during his first year of coaching. Then, in 2002, was again promoted to high school principal. In July, 2007, WADE and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth, bought a Tutoring Club franchise and begin building a small business that has since expanded from Laurel into Hattiesburg and has helped nearly 300 students from a dozen school districts and 50+ schools in the Pine Belt area. His experience as a small business owner has given him insight into creating revenue, making necessary budgetary cuts, and using funds wisely to maximize the outcome. In 2010, WADE returned to the classroom at North Jones Elementary, and then to West Jones High School, as well as continuing to operated his tutoring center in Laurel. He currently serves as elementary principal at Taylorsville Attendance Center. WADE has given motivational speeches to many school groups, athletic teams, civic clubs, and church groups. He was the Keynote speaker at the 2011 Mississippi Sr. Beta Convention, a meeting of the brightest high school students across the state of Mississippi. He has also recently spoken about educational issues, including common core, to the Simpson County Conservative Coalition, the Jones County Conservative Coalition, and the Faith and Freedom Coalition of Mississippi. With his educational experience, business experience, leadership experience, and motivational qualities, WADE has the skills and abilities necessary to lead the Jones County School District forward to new heights. Let's all join together and elect JEREL WADE Superintendent of Education for Jones County Schools.
