While we continue to send up prayers for Tina Wharton. If everyone can also spare one for Jenifer Windsor-Caudill that would be appreciated. Our classmate is having a knee replacement today and I know she was anxious about it. So if you can say a prayer for her procedure and recovery/rehab to go smoothly that would help her too. UPDATE: Jenifer is home this evening getting settled at her Mom's. Her surgery went well so hopefully her rehab will as well. She appreciates all your prayers and well wishes.

ATTENTION CLASSMATES: One of our own is in need of your prayers. Tina Wharton, Joel's wife, who has been pivotal person in making most if not all of our class reunions a reality over the years is in the hospital. Her official status as of 3:15pm text from Joel is Critical but stable condition. But she is not out of the woods and needs the power of prayer to pull her through this serious health crisis. So everyone please send up prayers for Tina's full recovery and for strength for Joel and the family at this time. Joel is being inundated with concern and questions about Tina's condition. Obviously he cannot keep up, so your prayers are the most important need at this time. MONDAY 1/26 UPDATE: Tina is improving has had the breathing tube removed so now breathing on her own. However she is still in the ICU with a feeding tube and still trying to get her temp stabilized. She is unable to talk for now after being intubated for so long but responding with smiles and head nods. So keep those prayers coming, it's working.TUESDAY 1/27 UPDATE; Tina had her feeding tube removed and has eaten a bit of food and drinking water. She is talking now but her voice is weak. She is still in ICU but they started physical therapy today even though not able to stand yet. The goal is to get her out of ICU in the next few days continuing her physical therapy then eventually discharged. The prayers have helped so keep them going until she gets charged and home. FINAL UPDATE: 2/1/2026 - Joel posted that Tina is being released from Miami University hospital tomorrow and they will be making their way home to Delaware tomorrow evening. Thank you everyone for the prayers and well wishes for Tina, Joel and the entire extended family the power of combined prayers certainly worked. UPDATE 2/2/2026: Jenifer is recovering at her mom's and is receiving her physical therapy visits there already. She says the PT sessions are painful but she is committed to stick with them as ever says they are key to successful long term recovery.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day classmates.
I believe the Reverend would be shaking his head at the state of our severely divided country today after all these years. Let's try to do better with our compassion, empathy and respect for all people, not just those who are a mirror image of yourselves. Please don't keep abandoning critical thinking and do your best NOT to embrace the extremes on either side of the political spectrum. The middle is where positivity and progress happens for all Americans not just those at the very top financially. America is only great when we all work together to uplift rather than oppress and restrict. Try not to continue to buy into the fantasy that billionaires know what's best for the masses or even care about them.

If anyone is offended by the above or feel it is inappropriate, I suggest you first look inward, then second volunteer to take over as an admin for this page which I will freely relinquish.

Class of 1984 was well represented during the time honored Sussex County tradition of Return Day festivities in Georgetown on Thursday, November 7th. Our very own Joel Wharton was chauffeur for Mr. Kendal Jones, who is 98 years young. He is a Laurel area WWII Veteran who Joel has interviewed on his FB page before. Also in the parade was Joel and Tina's, and Cara Rogers and Mike Bakers grandsons driving their "antiqued" go cart looking very dapper in their red caps now ties and suspenders. Our classmate and the young boys did so well they were awarded a parade trophy by the Return Day committee which Joel graciously accepted today from Rosalie Walls chair of that committee.

Good morning classmates! May your day be more treats than trucks today. 🎃

Tonight was our 40th high school reunion. While the attendance was lower than typical with competing with a first time country music festival in our area, area homecomings, general family conflicts, and serious illnesses we still managed to enjoy a lovely evening at Toads Oasis as a small intimate group. Major shout out to Lisa and Mike for hosting us at their lovely home. Kudos to the committee for organizing it, the caterer for the delicious food and everyone who did make time to attend even if just for a little while. I took a few candid snaps of the evening and Tina Wharton captured our awesome group shot of the classmates who attended before folks who had to leave early due to grandbaby duty. We even had a member of the class of 85 join us who traveled from Ohio with his wife to attend and he even wore his letterman's jacket - Mike D***s brother to our own 1984 classmate Debbie D***s Yawn so if we had done awards would have come from the farthest away he would have taken the prize. If anyone else took photos please upload in the comments and we hope too see even more classmates in 10 years for our 50th. But we might be planning some as hoc dinner meet ups before then. So follow this page and get others too as well to be in the know on all things Laurel Class of 1984. Also if interested in becoming an admin of this page message us.

Please let us know if we have missed any one. (Not listed in chronological order) Also if someone attended Laurel schools with our class for majority of their 12 years but just did not happen to graduate with us we are still considering them as well.

Hey classmates the reunion committee met on Wednesday night to finalize details for our 40th at Britts Dutch Inn as the deadline to sign up and pay was last weekend. Sorry didn't grab a group photo of our meeting this time. We set the menu options and reviewed all paid responses and expenses so can contact the caterer this weekend. There are a couple minor changes we had to make, due to the number of responses received being less than we hoped for. We are still proceeding at Toads Oasis just not using the 200 person capacity event space. The committee decided festivities would move to the outdoor patio area of Toads Oasis. Jeff is still going to provide the music for the smaller group and there will still be the catered dinner as described in the original invite. However it will be a more casual outdoor dinner party for catching up with classmates with music and possibly some other fun activities to get everyone involved. So for those of you who did respond Yes and paid Jennifer, we look forward to seeing you soon. Dress is casual comfy for the outdoors. We will have outdoor patio heaters on and enough seating for all, but bring your hoodies just in case we don't have a sudden Indian summer type night or you wander away from a patio heater. We still have the pole barn to fall back on if the weather does get too gnarly cold or a raging rain storm shows up on the evening of October 5th but fingers crossed neither of those happen.
See you on October 5th at 6pm for an evening of food, music fun and reminiscing with classmates.
