MEET THIS WEEK'S STAFF WAVEMAKER!
Our staff Wavemaker this week is Lauren Hilderbrand, Eighth Grade ELA Teacher. Lauren has been in education for eight years, with five of those in the Laurel School District. She chose a career in education because she wanted to make an impact in her community by building positive relationships with kids, teaching them valuable information, and watching them grow as students and individuals. Lauren knows all kids need positive role models who will be real with them and relate to them. Lauren said, "Middle school students are very impressionable and benefit from having adults in their lives that want to see them succeed but that also shows a true love and interest in their lives and who they are".

Lauren is engaged to her fiancé Neal, and they have an adorable 3.5-year-old daughter named Claire. Outside of school hobbies/interests—Spending time with my family, her siblings, and her mom. She likes to go shopping, going to the beach, reading, and enjoying concerts.

A fun fact about her is she jumped out of a plane and went skydiving with her mom, sister, and brother. Her favorite food is anything pasta and seafood and her favorite place to vacation is Mexico.

When asking Lauren how she hoped to make a positive ripple at LMS this year she said, "By building positive relationships with students that turn into students being super successful and hopefully making a lasting impact on them".

Lauren's favorite quote- "a student might not always remember you, but they will always remember how you made them feel".

Thank you, Lauren, for showing up for our students, being positive, and giving them a safe place to feel comfortable being themselves while learning.
