Universe Day occurs each year on the first Saturday of April. Similar to Earth Day events, individuals and organizations all over the planet are encouraged to self-organize their own Universe Day Birthday of the Universe celebrations and also create events & meet-ups. Universe Day is a no-ownership, no-egos event. Imitate it, adapt it, improve it, and even steal it if it means that its message is

quickly adopted to build a more sustainable world. Universe Day occurs the first Saturday before Earth Day each year. Universe Day is also the day we unite and act first as planetary citizens and universe citizens to preserve the future of our planet. Universe Day is an annual celebration of the Universe's birthday and an honoring the Universe's many gifts in our lives. On this Universe Day celebration, we invite you to gather with friends to:

Celebrate the Universe's birthday by setting aside some time by yourself or with friends to appreciate and celebrate the beauty and wonder of the Universe we live in, which continually sustains us, all life, and everything else! Please also consider helping to fix our beautiful Earth's escalating climate change emergency! Please share this Universe Day 2024 how-to article so your friends have time to plan their celebrations! In true Gen X, Y, Z, and A openness and style, Universe Day is a no-ownership, no-egos, get-the-message-out-now local and worldwide co-created event. As such, we are responsible for acting from a long-term and big-picture universe evolutionary perspective to wisely forward the evolution of all life on our planet to benefit humanity, its future, and all other living species. These are critical global citizenship responsibilities that transcend our national citizenship. 3.) Dramatically reducing atmospheric carbon emissions on an emergency global basis! This emergency reduction of human-caused carbon emissions is truly now "Job One" for all of humanity. (The current escalating climate destabilization is the result of human-caused carbon pollution of our atmosphere by fossil fuels. 4.) Acting more effectively and wisely as planetary Evolutioneers and universe citizens. Several weeks ago, I posted a white paper that got quite a positive reaction, but there was a complaint. It was so long. Could I do a summary for those of you who don't wanna read 50 pages? So here is that summary. It has a lot to do with the deeper reasons why climate change and so many other problems in the world never get solved. Here is the new article title and a bit about it.

Here is one of the strangest mysteries in human history: Why do intelligent people and entire societies repeatedly see serious problems coming, understand many of their causes, possess possible solutions, and still allow those problems to grow until they become disasters? This is particularly relevant for why we have not yet solved climate change, but it also relates to war, injustice, and the other crises of today's polycrisis.

Why do governments ignore warnings they paid experts to produce? Why do companies sometimes make decisions that increase short-term profits while damaging the systems they depend upon? Why do people keep following leaders who tell comforting stories instead of unpleasant truths? And why can a civilization produce astonishing science and technology while remaining so bad at governing the consequences?

About a year and a half ago, I said I was working on a research paper at the Universe Institute to understand why, after 10,000 years of the positive aspects of civilization, humanity is still so dysfunctional and unjust. I finally finished the white paper, and it is called:

The 10,000-Year Trap: The 20 Interacting Causal Forces Behind Recurring Human and Civilization-Level Dysfunctionality, Injustice, Catastrophe, and Collapse.

I spent so much time on this white paper because, personally, I also have always wondered why after:

a. 10,000 years of civilization,
b. over 50,000 religions having existed,
c. 50 major philosophies evolved,
d. all kinds of beginning to advanced educational systems were created, and
e. numerous political and economic systems have been tried,

humanity still keeps repeating the same 20 causal behaviors at the individual and civilization level (or both), which, because of the amplifying effects of modern technology, are rapidly bringing humanity ever closer to the possibility of widespread catastrophe, collapse, and even extinction.

I postulated that if I, and if humanity, do not know all of the real and accurate causes of why our human civilization continues to be so dysfunctional and unjust, such civilization-level dysfunction and injustice will not only continue but also will be greatly amplified by modern technology, including AI.

The Climate Bill Is Coming Due: How Climate Change Could Cost the World $235.5 Trillion Over the Next 30 Years!

This summer, you have seen another year of climate change-related record-breaking extreme weather at the local, state, national, and international levels. These climate change-related consequences and record-breaking events have real costs far greater than most people realize.

Our central scenario cost estimate is that climate change imposed approximately $4.67 trillion in total U.S. social and economic costs and $18.7 trillion in worldwide social and economic costs during 2016–2025. To put those costs in perspective, the total GDP of the world's richest country, the United States, is $32.5 trillion a year, and the world's current GDP is estimated at $126 trillion.

These climate change cost totals are much larger than insured losses or physical-disaster tallies because they include many more direct and indirect costs that are normally not found in other climate change cost reports. They also include estimated premature mortality and illness, lost labor and business output, food and water disruption, displacement, and other costs that ordinary climate disaster accounting omits.

It is a transparent estimate of disaster damage, deaths and illness, lost work, crop losses, infrastructure failures, insurance stress, displacement, and many other cascading climate costs.
