The Geometry of Fear vs. the Geometry of Expansion

Have you ever noticed how fear makes your world feel smaller, while excitement and confidence make you feel like anything is possible?

Think of your thoughts as patterns. When you focus on fear, rejection, and self-doubt, those patterns can become tight, repetitive, and restrictive. You start seeing fewer options, and that can make you easier to manipulate.

Some spiritual traditions believe that entities feed off fear-based energy. In that framework, contracted thought-forms are easier to reinforce and control.

But when you focus on excitement, confidence, openness, and possibility, imagine those geometric patterns expanding outward, connecting, and creating new pathways.

Scientifically, we know fear can narrow our attention, while positive anticipation can help us recognize opportunities.

But here’s the takeaway: What you repeatedly focus on influences how you feel, what you notice, and how you respond to the world.

Are you feeding your fear, or are you expanding your possibilities?

🔄 The Chase & Retreat Cycle: When Conflict Becomes a Battle of Defenses 💔

One partner chases for connection, answers, and reassurance. The other retreats to protect themselves from feeling overwhelmed, criticized, or misunderstood. Then the cycle repeats. 🔁

In this role-play from The Co-Regulated Couple Series by Myers Life Coaching, we demonstrate how the chase-and-retreat pattern and the criticism-defense cycle can leave both partners feeling unheard, disconnected, and emotionally exhausted.

💡 The problem isn’t always your partner. Sometimes, it’s the cycle you’re both caught in.

❤️ The chaser may need reassurance and connection.
🛡️ The retreating partner may need safety and space.
🗣️ Criticism can trigger defensiveness, while defensiveness can intensify the conflict.

The goal isn’t to decide who’s wrong. It’s to recognize the pattern, regulate your nervous system, communicate your needs, and learn how to reconnect without escalating the conflict.

✨ You don’t have to keep repeating the same argument. You can learn a different way to connect.

Follow Myers Life Coaching for more relationship education, communication tools, and practical strategies to build healthier, more emotionally connected relationships.

🚨 STOP. PAUSE. IDENTIFY THE TRIGGER. 🧠💗

Before you react, take a breath. Your emotions are giving you information, but they don’t have to dictate your response.

✨ STOP — Interrupt the automatic reaction.
✨ PAUSE — Give your nervous system time to settle.
✨ IDENTIFY — Ask yourself: What triggered me? What am I feeling? What story am I telling myself?

Sometimes, what upsets us in the present connects to an unresolved hurt from the past. Awareness creates space between the trigger and your response. And in that space, you have a choice. 💕

You don’t have to react to every emotion. You can acknowledge it, understand it, and choose a healthier response.

💗 Save this reminder for the next time you feel triggered!

She remembered to take care of everyone… but somehow forgot about herself. 💔

Sometimes love looks like giving, sacrificing, fixing, supporting, and showing up for everyone else—until you realize you’ve abandoned the one person who needed your love too: YOU.

When does love become self-abandonment?

✨ You don’t have to lose yourself to love someone.
✨ You don’t have to sacrifice your needs to prove you care.
✨ You are allowed to choose yourself without feeling guilty.

📖 When Love Becomes Self-Abandonment by Jasmine Myers is a reminder that loving others should never require abandoning yourself.

Your needs matter. Your voice matters. Your life matters. ❤️

Fear or love—which one is making your decisions?

So many times, we think we’re making choices based on love when, underneath it all, we’re actually responding from fear.

Fear of losing someone.
Fear of being alone.
Fear of disappointing someone.
Fear that if we set a boundary, speak our truth, or choose ourselves, we’ll be rejected.

But there is another choice: love.

Love doesn’t mean abandoning yourself to keep a relationship. It doesn’t mean ignoring your needs or tolerating what hurts you. Sometimes choosing love means choosing yourself, setting the boundary, walking away, or finally telling yourself the truth.

In When Love Becomes Self-Abandonment: A 30-Day Reset for Codependent Hearts, I explore how we lose ourselves in the name of love—and how to begin finding our way back.

The question isn’t always, “Do I love them?”

Sometimes the deeper question is:

“Am I making this decision from fear, or from love—including love for myself?”

💗 If you’ve ever found yourself choosing someone else’s needs over your own, this book was written for you.

When Love Becomes Self-Abandonment: A 30-Day Reset for Codependent Hearts

Have you ever loved someone so deeply that you slowly lost yourself in the process?

You started putting their needs before your own. You over-explained, over-gave, ignored your feelings, accepted less than you deserved, or found yourself constantly worrying about keeping the relationship together.

That may not be “just love.” It may be self-abandonment.

In this video, I’m sharing a summary of my book, When Love Becomes Self-Abandonment: A 30-Day Reset for Codependent Hearts—a guide created to help you recognize the patterns that keep you stuck in people-pleasing, over-functioning, emotional caretaking, and codependent relationship dynamics.

This 30-day reset is about learning how to:

✨ Recognize when you are abandoning yourself
✨ Stop confusing love with over-giving
✨ Understand your emotional patterns
✨ Create healthier boundaries
✨ Reconnect with your needs and identity
✨ Stop taking responsibility for everyone else’s emotions
✨ Practice self-trust and self-compassion
✨ Build relationships without losing yourself

You don’t have to become less loving.

You just have to stop leaving yourself out of the relationship.

If you’ve ever said, “I don’t know who I am anymore,” “I give everything and get nothing back,” or “Why do I keep choosing everyone else over myself?” this book and this 30-day reset were created with you in mind.

💗 Your healing isn’t about learning how to love less. It’s about learning how to love yourself, too.

💬 What happens when couples communicate from a regulated nervous system instead of reacting from a triggered one?

In Video 3 of The Co-Regulated Couple Series, we’re using a fun puppet role-play to demonstrate what regulated communication can actually look like in a relationship. 👫🧠

You’ll see the difference between reacting, becoming defensive, and communicating in a way that creates safety, understanding, and connection.

Because healthy communication isn’t about never having conflict—it’s about learning how to stay connected while navigating the conflict. ❤️
