It is with GREAT honor that we announce that our Executive Artistic Director received a huge honor last night. The Board of County Commissioners of Broward County designates May 22nd as Darius J. Manuel appreciation day due to his relentless fight for equity and inclusion in the performing arts industry, his amazing track record of groundbreaking art for children and young adult and being a warrior arts access for students locally and beyond, especially students of color. This is the BEST HONOR to close our 21/22 Season at Dillard Center for the Arts. As for Renegade, well stay tuned as to where the revolution takes us.

Dillard Center for the Arts would like to invite you and your family to our performance of "The Wiz" May 20th to May 22nd in the Dillard Center For The Arts Main Theatre located at 2501 NW 11th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.
This “super soul” 1975 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical retells L. Frank Baum’s classic “The Wizard of Oz” in the context of African-American culture. With Direction and Design by the BroadwayWorld Award-Winning Director/Choreographer and new Director of Theatre Arts at Dillard Center for the Arts, Darius J. Manuel, this urbanized version is sure to be like no other production of this classic you have seen!
Dorothy, a restless farm girl eager to see more of the world, is transported by a tornado to a magical world of Munchkins, witches, and a yellow brick road. On her way to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard of Oz, who she believes can help her get back home, she encounters the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion - friends who help her battle the Wicked Witch of the West and eventually learn that there really is “no place like home.”
We invite you and your family to experience the opportunity to see LIVE theater at the beautiful Dillard Center for the Arts Theater, home to Broward County’s exclusive high school magnet program for the Visual & Performing Arts.
Tickets are available online at dillardhs.com/showtime and performances are May 20th at 7:30pm, May 21st at 1pm and 7:30pm and May 22nd at 4pm.
