Earlier this week United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania hosted their annual Women of Influence Breakfast. This event serves to connect women leaders, support local philanthropy, and empower women and children in the region.

The highlight of this event was a presentation by Christine Mohler-King, owner and vice president of Sendell Motors Inc. and owner of Mobile Concepts Inc. Christine shared her journey as a successful leader in a male-dominated field, the lessons she has learned along the way, and the importance of investing in communities and causes that matter.

It was a morning dedicated to philanthropy, leadership and the power of women supporting women.

Last evening the Conference Center was host to Allen Kukovich, former Pennsylvania state Representative and Senator (3 decades in the PA General Assembly)

It was the first stop on the tour for for his book, "The Work is Never Done." Drawing on his legislative career, including architecting Pennsylvania's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), expanding senior prescription access, and assisting steelworker families, the book explores how public policy is built through negotiation and perseverance, alongside reflections on unpassed reforms like campaign finance and criminal justice.

Building consensus instead of division, leading with compassion, and never losing sight of the responsibility to use power for good, Kukovich's story is an invitation to civic engagement.

Where in the world are we from? 📍🌎

We recently added a US & World Map to our office, and it's becoming an ECS Team favorite! Student workers, staff, and former students have been marking their hometowns, and it's been fun to see how far our team reaches.

All around the globe, our map shows just how many places, stories, and backgrounds come together in our office.

On the surface, an evening at the Fred Rogers Center with w**e and chocolate sounds like a pretty perfect night out...and it was! But the real story of Westmoreland Children First's annual W**e & Chocolate event is what happens after the last glass is poured.

Every ticket, raffle entry, and generous bid helps WCF support the Westmoreland County Children's Bureau. Through alliances with community agencies, WCF works to assist children, preserve and support families, and give kids and teens the essentials they need to move toward a healthy adulthood.

Thank you to everyone who came out, gave, and cheered on this cause. And a huge thank you to the WCF team for trusting us with this important event and for the work you do all year long.

Last week, we were honored to welcome the Diocese of Greensburg to the Fred Rogers Center for their Teacher In-Service day.

It was inspiring to watch educators from across the community come together to learn, share ideas, and support one another. Teachers do so much for their students every day, and it was a joy to give them a space to connect and recharge.

And of course, we made sure everyone was well fed! From morning coffee to a satisfying lunch, our team was happy to keep energy levels high throughout the day.

Sharing this great post from WPNR about their part in the Westmoreland Historical Society tour. Their contribution helped make the experience a success, and we're so grateful for their partnership.

This event took a lot of cooperation. Thank you to all the departments and spaces across campus that came together to make it happen. It was a true team effort, and every SVC community member who pitched in made a difference.

Did you miss our last Soil to Supper dinner? Did you swear to yourself you'd never let that happen again?

Well, we heard you and here's your chance to make good on that promise to yourself!

Join us for our Fall Soil to Supper dinner, a 5-course meal crafted by our executive chef using local produce, grains, and cheeses from our neighboring farms and producers. Each course comes paired with a complimentary w**e sample, and you'll enjoy a fun educational element along the way as we discuss the stories behind the w**es, the farms, and the ingredients on your plate.

It's a night of beautiful food, great w**e, and real connection to where it all comes from.
