To my fellow teachers heading back tomorrow 🤍
Even in my 11th year, the day before going back to school still brings anxiety. I don’t think that means we’re doing something wrong… I think it means this job asks us to hold a lot, and we feel it.
As you head back, I wish you a safe and steady rest of the school year. Some days will feel meaningful, some will feel exhausting, and some will feel like you’re just trying to make it through.
All of that is real.
Teaching asks so much of us — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Teaching requires patience and heart — often more than anyone sees.
Please remember that you are not failing because you’re tired, overwhelmed, or questioning things. You are human. And the way you care for kids matters far beyond what can be tracked or measured.
Protect your peace where you can. And give yourself permission to be a person first, not just a role.
May you find small moments of joy in the middle of the chaos, connection in unexpected places, and reminders of why you chose this work in the first place.
