The Capital District Library Council (CDLC) is a multitype library consortium which works with the libraries of the ten-county Capital District region of upstate New York to optimize success through collaboration. The Council's leadership in information management, staff development, and resource sharing enables member libraries to provide top quality services. The Council received its provisional

charter from the Board of Regents on June 26, 1966, and its absolute charter on September 24, 1971. The Council is governed by a 15 member Board of Trustees. The majority of the Trustees are representatives of the institutional members of the Council, including those representatives mandated by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education. CDLC is one of nine Reference and Research Resources Councils (3R's) in New York State. The service area comprises the counties of Albany, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington. In all, the region includes over 500 Libraries served by the programs and services of CDLC; these include academic libraries; public library systems and public libraries; school library systems and school libraries; and special libraries. Services provided by CDLC to its member libraries include Interlibrary Loan; Union List of Serials; CaDiLaC Online, a virtual online regional union catalog; Cooperative Cataloging; digitized library collections; Direct Access Program, allowing patrons to borrow from many local libraries; continuing education programs for the staff of member libraries; and the administration of state-funded regional automation, Coordinated Collection Development, Hospital Library Services and Documentary Heritage Programs.

We were so happy to help support this project and look forward to hearing about all the creative ways they use their new tech!

We are thrilled to announce that the Gloversville High School Library received the Capital District Library Council Technology and Equipment Grant Award for full funding! The project was selected for its high quality and alignment with goals to expand accessibility and enhance current services for our scholars.

With this grant, the Gloversville High School Library was able to purchase a brand-new Cricut Explore 5 machine-and our creative scholars got to work right away! In fact, if you look closely at the back of the photo, you can see the very first label they designed and crafted. πŸ’»πŸ› οΈ

City of Albany residents get access at the University at Albany Libraries! University students get access at Albany NY Library! Everyone wins!

πŸ“’πŸ“’ Big good news alert πŸ“’πŸ“’ Meet UAlbany/APL Community Borrowing!! In our never ending quest to SHARE MORE STUFF, we’re teaming up to... SHARE MORE STUFF! City of Albany residents with an APL card can now get access to UAlbany resources, including books, media, and databases. And we’ve made it much easier for UAlbany students to get a public library card. More libraries, more sharing, more power to the people!

Getting started is simple. If you want UAlbany access, just stop by your local APL branch and ask. We’ll submit the paperwork, then once your application is processed (about 1 week), you'll get instructions on how to log in to the UAlbany system and start using your card. You can borrow from either campus library and request material for pickup at convenient 24/7 downtown campus storage lockers. You can also access their databases in person at UAlbany libraries.

For students, you can apply for a library card in person or online at albanypubliclibrary.org. You’ll just need to use your school email and UAlbany’s campus address (1400 Washington Ave) to apply. Then you’ll have access to seven branches worth of books, music, movies, comics, museum passes, ebooks, and much more!
