Colonie Historical Society and the William K. Sanford Town Library have another upcoming event of interest to us history buffs:

The Troubled WW II B-29 Bomber
Wednesday, August 26, @ 10:30AM
Chronicle the development of the famous B-29 bomber and its immense difficulties in developing the super fortress bomber to operational status.

Meet Helen Dortch Longstreet, a worker in the B-29 bomber war plant at the age of 80 becoming the best riveter in the plant.
In addition to Helen, hear the stories about many of the women who served in World War II. The presentation will discuss the B-29's role in the only two atomic bomb raids in history. Hear how one man on the second atomic bomb run changed the course of history with three words.

Registration now open through the William K. Sanford Town Library:

We’re finishing the Buhrmaster Barn concert series this Wednesday August 12 with a bang! It’s Celtic Night, and we’ve got Get Up Jack (https://www.getupjackband.com/) bringing their blend of Celtic and Rock to the stage from 6-8pm! The Schenectady Pipe Band (https://schenectadypipeband.com/) returns to kick the musical festivities off, as has become tradition. O’Slattery’s Restaurant joins the night as well, along with ice cream, desserts, and water and soft drinks for sale (there is an ATM on site for these cash sales). Remember, all of the historic buildings on the Pruyn House Cultural Center property will be open for tours from 5-6pm, so come early. Concert tickets are $5 per person, with children 12 and under free, and Friends of Pruyn House Members are free if they remember to bring their tickets from home. Folks are welcome to bring lawn chairs, picnics, and their dancing shoes, but no pets, please! We’ll offer several raffle prize drawings at intermission, so be sure to check those out too. There are limited picnic tables available on site, so best reserve one early with a blanket if you want one! There is also seating available inside the Buhrmaster Barn. We will be here rain or shine, so come out, take a tour, have some food, and embrace the Celtic spirit with the pipes and Get Up Jack!
