The year before I started as principal at Jacobson (2022-2023), chronic absenteeism was above 40%. I am proud to announce that during the past school year, that dropped to less than 7%, and we are still on the decline. Thank you to the Angel Park community for trusting us and sending your children to school every day. We are blessed to work for such a hard working, caring community. 💜

As you drive by the schoolhouse, you’ll notice that our flag is at half staff. I was so pleased that both President Trump and Governor Lombardo ordered that flags be at half staff for a week in honor of the one and only DOLLY PARDON. Our family had a special connection with Dolly. Living in Chicagoland, we were a 10-hour drive from Dollywood, and we were (and are) a family that love’s road trips. We had season passes for about 7 or 8 years and would visit typically about 5 times a season. We saw Dolly there three times, and we also saw her in concert. Many years ago I was at the AASA convention in San Diego where Dolly was honored with an award for her Imagination Library. It was so cool because that very award is in the museum at Dollywood. Our last trip there was last summer. I had forgotten how grotesquely humid it is in eastern Tennessee, but we had a grand time reliving our many years of visiting Dollywood. The world has lost a beautiful human. 💜💜🦋🦋💜💜

Hello, everyone. Just a quick reminder for Walter E. Jacobson Elementary School families. We have a Meet & Greet Friday from 12:30-1:50 on Friday. This is a chance to meet the teachers, drop off school supplies, and tour the schoolhouse. We hope your family can join us. GO CUBS!! 💜💜

SCHOOL STARTS MONDAY!!!!

NEW START TIME: 7:30, though we encourage all students to be on campus by 7:20.

On Day 1 (Monday) there will be a meeting for all kindergarten families in the multi-purpose room at 7:40am. Kindergarten parents and their children should enter the front doors on day 1 and head to the multi-purpose room. We will have lots of staff available to help point you in the right direction.

With the time change for my school on the horizon, I can’t help but think 30 minutes is not that big of a difference… until I think about the fact that starting at the end of July I’ll have to start getting up at 5am rather than 5:30am. 😳😳😳😩😩😩 I don’t even think old people are meant to get up so early. This feels like raw insanity. 😂😂🤪🤪 I better start practicing. Because my body requires 8 hours of sleep a night, I’ll need to be asleep by 9pm. OY‼️ Thank goodness I walk to work. 😂😂
