I was NOT born charismatic. I was an immigrant who sounded like Dracula and taught with my notes taped to the mat for two years. If charisma were a personality, I would not have one.

I built it. Vocal training. Acting classes. Studying the world's most magnetic instructors. Thousands of reps. Charisma is not talent. It is a skill. And skills can be duplicated.

And here's what takes the pressure off — charisma isn't loud. I'm a textbook introvert. It's presence, not personality. Leadership, not loudness. Connection, not performance.

Try it right now. Close your eyes. Take one breath. Feel your spine rise, your chest open, your presence expand one inch past your skin. Now picture walking into a room with that energy — before you say a word, the room feels you.

Your students can feel your belief before you say a word.

After class, the instructor said it out loud. I don't think people like to work out at 6 a.m.

There it was. She believed it. And the room felt it.

Your students don't only hear your cues. They feel what you feel.

Walking in thinking, I don't want to be here, versus walking in believing your class is the best, that it's a life-changing experience. Makes a huge difference.

One will empty the room. The other? They'll line up at the door.

You are the thermostat. You set the temperature. You set the tone.

The clearest before-and-after I've got is my own. Because I lived both sides of it. 🔥

Before: I was the certification collector. RYT 200. The 488-hour Balanced Body cert. NASM, TRX, Zumba, kettlebells, CrossFit. If someone handed me a flyer, I handed them my wallet.

And my numbers were volatile. Seven people, then ten, then five. All over the place. Volatile numbers tell you the product isn't bulletproof yet.

After: I stopped chasing knowledge and started studying charisma. I watched the most magnetic instructors in the world. I took acting classes. Vocal training. I built the presence, not more credentials.

Within three months I had seventy-nine people in a yoga room that had never seen more than thirty.

Same body. Same person. It wasn't the certifications. It was the charisma.

Every instructor I've watched make this shift did the same thing: they stopped adding knowledge and started building connection. And the room answered every single time.

One of my instructors had sold out classes. Then her numbers started to go down.

I went in and took her class. Everything was on point. The moves, the cues, her personality.

But the class felt flat. Why?

Imagine we're doing bridges. The opening. The mood setting. When we're supposed to light them up.

The song playing? If You Like Piña Coladas.

Great song. Wrong time. Wrong moment.

After class, I asked her what happened to her playlist. It used to be so good. She said she wanted to add her own flavors. Songs that she liked.

I get it. You want to enjoy your own playlist.

But every song has to have a why. Every song has to match the emotion you want to create. The emotion of the moment.

That's not random. You build the experience using music. That's a skill.

We went back to the formula. One week later, her numbers came right back up.

There are three pieces to filling a room. And you need all three — one without the others won't hold. 🔥

Piece one: a format that differentiates you. If you're doing the same generic workout as everybody down the street, you've already lost. You need an identity. Pick a lane, name it, and don't water it down to please everybody. The format is the promise.

Piece two: presence that makes the class magnetic. Your voice projected from the solar plexus. Your stance — grounded, chest up. Walking the room, acknowledging people by name, cueing with authority. Everybody thinks you're born with this. You're not. It's a checklist. It's trainable.

Piece three: community that builds loyalty. Greeting people the second they walk in. Learning their lives. Sealing the end by naming their win — "you led yourself today." That's what creates the person who says "I will ONLY take her class."

Format is the hook. Presence is the experience. Community is the glue.

Miss one and the other two leak.

Most instructors think to fill the class, they need more impressive moves. More creative. More complicated. The more the better.

Let me tell you a story.

One of my instructors, her numbers dropped. I went in and observed her class. The moves were so complicated. I'm a coordinated person and even I couldn't follow.

I looked around. Everybody looked like deer in the headlights. All five of them.

After class, I asked her what happened. She said, I like small classes because I can do cool stuff with them.

There it was. The class was for her. Not for her students.

Simple is not easy. Simple is doable by most. Simple makes them feel good, feel capable, feel that they can. And they sign up for membership.

You can pull a hundred moves off YouTube. But a cluster of random moves is not a class.

Well curated, simple moves built into a simple sequence made for big groups. That's a skill.

Your knowledge will never fill the room.

Knowledge possibly gives you confidence. But what fills the room is charisma. Deep connection. Connection on the unconscious level.

It's the way you move your students emotionally. The way you make them want more. The way you make them feel like they are a priority, not an option.

Students don't choose the most knowledgeable instructor. They choose the one who has the magic. Where they never want to leave.

Here's the beautiful part. It's not a personality you're missing. It's a skill. A skill you can learn.

Imagine tomorrow morning. You walk in, look at the roster, and it's full. Your class is waitlisted.

You say to yourself, I can't believe those 30 students are here for my class. They got rid of all their obstacles just to be here.

That's when you're not just a trainer. You're the entertrainer who creates the experience.

The game changed. And a lot of instructors are still playing by the old rules. 🔥

There was a time when just being certified made you special. Knowing the anatomy, knowing how to sequence — that was rare. That's what set you apart.

But now? Everybody's certified. Information is free. Anybody can learn the moves off YouTube. So knowledge stopped being the thing that makes you stand out. It became the price of admission, not the prize.

So what are students actually choosing between now? The experience. The feeling. The connection.

When Jay and I opened, we decided we were going to be the Louis Vuitton of high intensity, low impact. Not the Target. We gave it an identity. We called it Inferno.

Nobody's crawling through traffic for "technically correct." They do it for how you make them feel.

The credential gets you in the building. The experience is what fills the room.

Charisma is a trainable skill.

Have you ever watched an instructor teach and said to yourself, she was just born with it?

Let me stop you right here.

I'm a textbook introvert. I used to sound like Dracula. One, two, three. I was never the bubbly cheerleader type. Never kind of like Jane Fonda. Nope. That was never me.

So how did I fill the room?

I learned it.

Because charisma isn't a personality. It's a skill. It's not being the loudest in the room. It's not doing moonwalks in front of people.

It's caring about your students so deeply that they can feel it. And they move mountains just to be there with you.

That's trainable.

She has five certifications. RYT, Balanced Body, NASM, the whole alphabet. She knows the anatomy cold. And she's standing in front of eight people. 🔥

Meanwhile the girl who got certified six months ago has a waitlist out the door.

This was me. So I know it in my bones.

Here's what's breaking: she's been told her whole career that knowledge equals success. So she keeps doing the only thing she knows — she goes and gets more. More knowledge, more complexity, more impressive sequences. And every one of those is making it worse, not better.

Because knowledge acquisition is not knowledge application. All that knowledge became a place to hide. She's using complexity as armor. She's so busy trying to prove she's good enough that she forgot to connect with the human in front of her.

The overqualified instructor is teaching the workout. The packed instructor is teaching the people.
That's the whole gap.
