When students can’t see the relevance of what they’re learning or how it connects to their future, passions or goals, motivation quickly fades and the challenge becomes how to evoke meaningful learning environments.

As conversations around the future of the workforce, AI and rapidly changing industries continue to evolve, education systems have an opportunity to rethink what engagement can look like.

On Saturday, June 27 at 10am, family members, friends and community members will gather at THIRD Street for an inspiring afternoon as our Future Studios fellows take the stage to share their projects, lessons learned and bold visions for the future of learning.

Over the past two weeks, these young innovators have explored their passions and transformed ideas into action. Now, it's time to showcase what's possible when young people are given the space, support and agency to create.

Learning happens in many different spaces and a recent episode with Youth Innovation Associate, Akilah Bello, and her friend/peer, Gavin, explores what happens when learning is truly fueled by passion and real-world experiences.

For Gavin, photography started as an interest, but quickly became something more. He’s developed skills that connect to future-ready skills, including:

We are so incredibly proud of our talented and dedicated Youth Innovation Associate and Rancho High School student, Akilah Bello, who was surprised with a $5,000 scholarship from the America First Charitable Foundation! 🎉

This week, Clark County School District shared that Akilah was one of just 10 students selected for the scholarship this year.

We’ve had the privilege of seeing Akilah help shape what the future of learning can look like through her work on the Almanac for the Future of Learning, her time with Futurescapers, and her most recent contributions through our FutureShock Spring Break workshop and the Community Dream Sessions we hosted alongside CCSD.

Her voice and ideas continue to reflect exactly why youth perspective is so essential in reimagining education.

Akilah, we are so excited for you—congratulations! We can’t wait to see everything you continue to accomplish on your journey ahead. 💫
