2nd day of school in Mrs. O’Neils Math class! Students started by taking a survey about how they learn math best. Their answers gave them different color choices and types of “structures” or “cuts” to include in their sculptures. By the end, each student had created a 3D structure that represented how they learn math!
As a class, they looked at everyone’s sculptures, found similarities and differences, and learned a little more about each other. ❤️
Math + art + self-reflection + community building = a pretty great way to start the year! ✨

Dear Cactus K-8 Community,
We are asking for your immediate attention and cooperation regarding arrival and dismissal procedures. We have seen an increase in families parking in turn lanes and picking up or dropping off students in areas that are not designated for student loading. These practices create significant safety concerns, especially with the extensive construction surrounding our campus.
STUDENT SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY. Please review the following expectations carefully.
Parking & Pick-Up
NO parking, student pick-up, or student drop-off is permitted on W. Cactus between Fort Apache and El Capitan, including directly in front of the school.
Do not park in turn lanes or active traffic lanes.
Designated parking areas are:
North/South:
El Capitan between Cactus & Mountain's Edge
East/West:
Cactus between El Capitan & Durango
Please follow all posted signs, cones, barriers, and staff directions.
Please use all designated crosswalks.
Do not cross through traffic or between vehicles.
Walker Procedures
Students in grades 1-5 must have a Walker Waiver on file each school year in order to walk off campus.
The Walker Waiver closes daily at 2:00 PM and reopens at 4:00 PM.
If siblings are walking together, they should meet at a designated location on the playground before leaving campus. We recommend the picnic tables as a meeting location.
If you plan to meet your student after they walk off campus, as a walker, please meet your student at the flagpole or another designated pick-up location. Pick-up directly at the gates is not permitted. The gates are designated for car riders and become extremely congested during dismissal.
Parents Walking Up for Pick-Up: Parents who walk to campus to pick up their child must have their car tag number with them. Please line up in the parent line, along the gate.
We understand that construction has made arrival and dismissal more challenging. However, parking in unauthorized areas, using turn lanes, or picking students up outside designated areas creates dangerous conditions for students, families, and staff.
Please plan ahead, allow additional time, use designated parking, follow staff directions, and utilize crosswalks.
Please see the attached map for guidance on drop off/pick up procedures.
Thank you for helping us keep our Cactus Crew safe!
