💧 A quick hydroponics tip from our Hydro Team! 🌱

To help keep your hydroponic system in great condition, avoid moving larger hydroponic units while they're full of water. Each level holds approximately 4–5 gallons, and the added weight can put stress on the frame, potentially cracking the corners or damaging the unit.

Here are a few best practices:
✅ Keep the wheels locked while the unit is in use.
✅ If you need to move or clean the unit, drain the water first.
✅ Once it's empty, unlock the wheels and safely reposition or clean your system.

A little preventative care goes a long way in protecting your hydroponic unit and keeping it growing strong for years to come! 🌿

🦒 Here's hydroponics in action at Highland High School in Salt Lake City! Each student cares for their own tabletop hydroponic unit—50 units in total—learning valuable skills through hands-on growing🌱

One of the coolest parts of the program? Students grow fresh lettuce that's donated to feed the giraffes at the local zoo. In return, they get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour to see the impact of their work firsthand.

It's a wonderful example of how hydroponics, STEM education, and community partnerships can create unforgettable learning experiences.

Cure 4 The Kids Foundation
🐝🌻 Learning, laughter, and a few surprise heroes made for an unforgettable summer camp day!

This week, we had the joy of hosting a summer camp session for kids and their families, and it was packed with hands-on learning and fun from start to finish.

Rachel and Nehemia led an incredible morning exploring the fascinating world of plants and pollinators through interactive games, insect discoveries, and creative activities. Campers matched seeds to seedlings and full-grown plants, learned why pollinators are essential to healthy ecosystems, and painted their very own bee houses to take home while discovering how bee hotels provide safe spaces for our tiny garden helpers.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made a surprise visit too! 🐢It was the perfect ending to an amazing morning.

A huge thank you to Rachel, Nehemia, and our wonderful volunteer Camila for bringing so much energy, creativity, and passion to this event. Inspiring the next generation to explore nature, care for pollinators, and discover the joy of learning is what it's all about. 💚🌱

Hands on learning is where confidence takes root🌱

During our Seeds to Systems workshop, Nathan guided participants through the six most common challenges hydroponic growers are likely to encounter. Including mechanical issues, algae growth, pests, physical damage, nutrient and pH imbalances, and light timer troubleshooting.

Rather than simply discussing these topics, participants rotated through six interactive stations where they could troubleshoot real scenarios, ask questions, experiment with solutions, and learn from one another.

Building confidence is just as important as building a hydroponic system. When people have the opportunity to solve problems in a supportive, hands-on environment, they're better prepared to apply those skills at home, in schools, and in the workplace.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked thoughtful questions, and contributed to such an engaging day of learning. We can't wait to see what you'll grow next. 🌱

🌱 Seeds to Systems: Educator Professional Development & Community Learning Experience 🌱

What an incredible weekend of learning, collaboration, and inspiration!

We had the privilege of bringing together educators and community members to explore innovative topics including hydroponics, school gardens, nutrition education, AI in education, financial literacy, and integrating art into K–5 classrooms. Together, we shared practical strategies that help create engaging, hands-on learning experiences for students.

School gardens and hydroponics continue to transform classrooms by connecting students with STEM, sustainability, healthy eating, and experiential learning. These programs not only teach students how to grow their own food but also cultivate curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for nutrition and the environment.

A heartfelt thank you to every educator and community member who joined us, and to our incredible facilitators for sharing their expertise, energy, and passion. Your dedication to supporting students and advancing education is what makes events like this so meaningful.

We're grateful to everyone who helped make Seeds to Systems such a success—and we're just getting started!

🌱 A productive week in Reno!

Last week, our team traveled to Reno to install a new hydroponics system at Access to Healthcare Network as part of our partnership with the Nevada Business Group on Health. After the installation, we trained the team and planted their very first seeds together! They're excited to bring more greenery into their staff kitchen and eventually use the fresh produce to support their food pantry.🌿

We also visited the Ron Wood Family Resource Center to connect with their team and learn how participants are engaging with their hydroponics system in the nursing room.

Our final stop was Cold Springs Family Center, where we celebrated their very first harvest! Their amazing team harvested an impressive 24 pounds of fresh produce, which was distributed through their food pantry the very next day.

A huge thank you to Jacob & Katie for leading these installations, training sessions, and to all of our incredible partners who continue to help these programs grow. We can't wait to see the impact these hydroponic gardens will have in their communities! 💚
