October 1, 2017.

We remember the lives lost.
We remember the families forever changed.
We remember the first responders, medical workers, and everyday people who ran toward the hurting when our city needed them most.

We remember the heartbreak.

But we also remember the courage.

We remember a city coming together. Neighbors helping neighbors. Strangers caring for strangers. And a community choosing to stand together in the face of unimaginable loss.

Today, we remember those we lost, we continue to pray for those who carry the weight of that day, and we remember that Las Vegas is strong, too.

Las Vegas, we remember. 🤍

Some friends make you feel better.
The right friends make your faith stronger.
Jonathan had every reason to see David as competition. David was gaining influence. David was receiving recognition. David would eventually sit on the throne Jonathan could have expected to inherit.
But Jonathan didn’t compete with David.
He covered him. He encouraged him. He went looking for him when he was struggling.
“Jonathan went to find David and encouraged him to stay strong in his faith in God.” — 1 Samuel 23:16 NLT
Read that again:
He went to find him.
That’s the kind of friendship we need—and the kind of friend we’re called to become.
The friend who celebrates your win without making it about them.
The friend who notices when you’ve gone quiet.
The friend who tells you the truth.
The friend who prays before giving advice.
The friend who doesn’t just say, “You’ve got this.”
They remind you, “God’s got you.”
Take a look at your circle.
Who strengthens your faith? And whose faith are you intentionally strengthening?
Tag the friend who always points you back to Jesus.

You can love God and still struggle when someone else gets what you wanted.

That’s where Saul’s heart started to change.

David’s success wasn’t the problem. Saul’s response to David’s success was.

Comparison is sneaky.

It can turn celebration into competition.
Gratitude into jealousy.
Someone else’s blessing into evidence that we’re somehow being overlooked.

But someone else receiving more doesn’t mean God has less for you.

John the Baptist understood this:

“He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” — John 3:30

What if instead of asking, “Why them?” we started asking, “How can I celebrate what God is doing in them?”

Because when Jesus is the center, we don’t need to compete for the spotlight.

Someone else’s blessing is not your loss.

Save this for the next time comparison starts getting loud—and send it to someone who needs the reminder.

What if the giant isn’t the biggest problem? What if it’s where we’ve been looking?

Israel saw Goliath and ran.

David saw Goliath and remembered.

He remembered the lion.
He remembered the bear.
He remembered every time God had been faithful before.

And that gave him faith for what was standing in front of him now.

Sometimes the battle in front of us gets so loud that we forget what God has already brought us through.

So this week, don’t just stare at the giant.

Remember your God. Remember His faithfulness. And give the battle back to Him.

“The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
— 1 Samuel 17:37

What is one thing God has already brought you through? Tell us in the comments. Someone else may need your reminder today.

What if the giant isn’t the biggest thing in the room?

David didn’t win because Goliath was small.
He won because **God was bigger.**

Whatever you’re facing today, it may feel overwhelming—but it is not bigger than your God.

Remember who He is.
Remember who goes before you.
And trust Him with what feels too big for you.

— 1 Samuel 17:37

Ever feel like everyone else is getting noticed… except you?

Like you’re doing your best, showing up, staying faithful—and wondering if any of it even matters?

David knew what it was like to be overlooked.

When it was time to choose the next king, his own family didn’t even think to bring him into the room.

But God saw him.

Not his position.
Not his popularity.
Not his résumé.

His heart.

Maybe you need that reminder today:

Being overlooked doesn’t mean you’re unseen.

God sees the parts of your life no one applauds.
The quiet obedience.
The unseen work.
The prayers no one hears.
The decision to keep going when no one notices.

And you don’t need a bigger platform to start living with purpose.

Start with what’s already in your hands.

Be faithful there.

Swipe through and sit with these two questions today. →

What if being seen by God is enough?

đź“– 1 Samuel 16
