Day 2 of the Justice Michael Douglas Pre-Law Fellowship was packed with insight, strategy, and growth!

Our fellows kicked off the morning mastering the art of case briefing with Professor and Assistant Director of the Academic Success Program, Raef Granger, followed by a session on mental health and mindfulness in the legal profession with Kristine Kuzemka from the State Bar of Nevada.

In the afternoon, they tackled the future of the profession in a Legal Writing and AI workshop with Professor Joe Regalia, before gaining firsthand wisdom during an insightful panel with current law students. We wrapped up the day with a working dinner study group to put our new skills to the test alongside student mentors!

We were thrilled to welcome the newest cohort of the Justice Douglas Prelaw Fellowship program yesterday!

Day 1 was designed to give our fellows a comprehensive, honest look into the law school journey and legal careers. Following morning introductions and breakfast, Assistant Dean Cameron Lue Sang led an engaging Admissions "Ask-Me-Anything" focusing on financial aid and financial literacy.

Fellows then dove straight into LSAT preparation with Clay Cooper, followed by a dynamic panel on public interest careers from the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada.

Thank you to our incredible speakers, faculty, and fellows for making the first full day of the program a massive success.

The William S. Boyd School of Law hosted their annual Robert D. Faiss Lecture on Gaming Law & Policy featuring the Honorable Cheryl Moss (Ret.), who delivered a compelling presentation titled "Betting on Justice: Inside Nevada's Gambling Diversion Court."

As the gaming industry continues to evolve with online and mobile wagering, Judge Moss examined the complex intersection of disordered gambling and the legal system. Attendees gained exclusive insight into Nevada's Gambling Treatment Diversion Court (GTDC)—the first and only court in the U.S. designed specifically for individuals whose criminal behavior is driven by gambling disorders.

Boyd Law's Economic Justice and Small Business Clinic put together a fantastic, free workshop in Las Vegas: the Nevada Entrepreneurial Artist Toolkit (NEAT).

Held at the Historic Fifth Street School, this session was designed specifically to bridge the gap between creative vision and legal compliance for Nevada’s local artists and creative entrepreneurs.

Huge shoutout to law students Alissa Casal and Rocco Marino, who successfully presented the workshop and delivered essential insights on the business side of being an artist. Thank you to our clinic and community partners (City of Las Vegas Government and Nevada Arts Council) for making this collaborative event possible!

Dean Leah Chan Grinvald was honored by the Clark County Bar Foundation as a 2026 Liberty Bell Award recipient.

The Liberty Bell Award is a prestigious honor presented to a community member who tirelessly upholds the rule of law, contributes to good government, stimulates civic responsibility, and encourages deep respect for our legal system.
