We are currently accepting nominations for four parent members for the 2026-2027 Kenneth Divich School Organizational Team (SOT). Nominations close Friday, September 11 at 8:00 AM.

The SOT is a collaborative partnership of teachers, support staff, parents, and administration. The SOT meets once a month for an hour or longer (day and time to be determined) to provide assistance and advisement to the principal.

Hello Knight Family!

I am excited to celebrate some great news! 🎉 We finished last school year with a 9% chronic absenteeism rate, a 27% decrease from the 2024–2025 school year! This is a tremendous accomplishment, and we appreciate our Knight families for partnering with us to help students attend school consistently.

A student is considered chronically absent when they miss more than 10% of the school days for which they are enrolled. For students enrolled from the first day of school, this means 18 or more absences during a 180 day school year.

Why does attendance matter? Chronic absenteeism accounts for 10% of our Nevada School Performance Framework star rating. Every day of attendance makes a difference in our students’ learning and contributes to our school’s success.

If your student needs to miss school due to a medical appointment or illness, a doctor’s note will prevent that absence from counting toward our chronic absenteeism rate.

Please check out the attached image for information about a FREE option for obtaining a doctor’s excuse for your student’s absence.

Finally, remember that all student absence excuses should be submitted through our Attendance Note Form at divichelementary.org.

I understand that travel costs can be more affordable at certain times of the year. However, regular school attendance is essential to your student’s academic success and overall progress.

Did you know? Attendance accounts for 10% of our star rating on the Nevada School Performance Framework.

Hello Knight Family,

Please see the attached image for important traffic reminders.

Our staff has worked really hard the first two weeks to support our 1,079 students in meeting our expectations and following our school rules. We proudly use the Divich Dozen as our guiding principles, and they help create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment for everyone.

In that same spirit, I kindly ask for your cooperation with all traffic reminders. I understand that everyone is busy, but ignoring just one of the reminders creates safety concerns for our students and families. Even with reminders, PREVENTABLE violations continue to happen.

I appreciate your help in modeling the expectations we set for our students. Let’s work together to make safe and considerate choices. It’s the KNIGHT thing to do.
