For nearly 30 years, Dr. Sammie Mosier dedicated her career to advocating for nurses, advancing healthcare, and investing in the next generation of nursing leaders. 💙

In conjunction with HCA Healthcare and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, we are honored to announce the Sammie Mosier Legacy Scholarship, established to celebrate her extraordinary contributions to the nursing profession and her unwavering commitment to student success. ✨

This renewable scholarship provides $5,000 annually to support pre-licensure Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing students who demonstrate financial need, with priority preference given to HCA Healthcare affiliated colleges, like Galen College of Nursing. Applications open tomorrow, July 1st. 🩺

✨ Student Spotlight: Megan Ledeau ✨

Megan Ledeau is an ADN student whose quiet strength, compassion, and determination have helped shape her nursing journey. While she describes herself as naturally shy, becoming a student ambassador has pushed her outside of her comfort zone and allowed her to connect with and support fellow students in meaningful ways.

A few of Megan’s favorites:
🌮 Favorite local spots: Firefly, Munch-a-Sub, hiking, and hot yoga
📚 Study tip: Break difficult concepts down simply and build from there
🥒 Go-to snack: Fresh fruits and veggies — especially cucumbers, celery, yellow bell peppers, and watermelon
💭 iCare value that resonates most: Compassion

Megan shared that one of the hardest habits she’s had to build in nursing school has been learning how to ask for help. After being out of school for over 15 years while balancing parenthood and life responsibilities, adapting to the intensity of nursing school challenged her in new ways — but also taught her the importance of leaning on others for support.

One moment that made Megan feel especially supported at Galen was when the school showed compassion during a difficult time while her son was very sick. The understanding and flexibility she received during that stressful situation reminded her that she was surrounded by people who truly care about students and their success.

Inspired by her mom’s hard work and resilience, Megan continues to push forward with empathy, humility, and perseverance. Her kindness, honesty, and willingness to support her peers make her such a valued part of the Galen community. 💙
