This past weekend, we sent 10 UNLV students to be part of the UFC 324 50/50 Raffle, gaining real-world, hands-on experience at the highest level of sport!

This week, members of the SII team were on hand at Liberty High School as guest speakers to talk about their journeys & educate the kids on what they do in the world of sport!
On hand was our SPEED Lab Coordinator & Postdoctoral Scholar Dr. Cordero Roché & also our Graduate Assistant, Kelvin Omojola.
Dr. Roche let the kids know about his path from working in the MLB, pursuing his PH.D, to now leading the UNLV SPEED Lab and having the opportunity to work with K-12 schools as well as professional sports teams. Kelvin shared his story as his time as professional basketball player, having to climbs the ranks from high school to the pros, taking advantage of opportunities, and the importance of networking.

With Jay Vickers moderating, Dr. Roché, Dr. Swafford, Dr. Coyner, and Margo Malik shared insights with representatives from numerous France-based companies exploring opportunities to expand into the Las Vegas sports market.
The discussion highlighted the growth of the Las Vegas sports industry, the value of collaborating with UNLV and the Sports Innovation Institute, and the exciting potential for international partnerships in sport innovation! 🌍
