This course will introduce students to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) fundamentals, focusing on social sciences and humanities applications. Students will learn to use GIS software (ESRI´s ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online) to display, analyze, and communicate spatial information. In particular, this course will present and discuss its potential applications in research and professional settings within the humanities and social sciences, including population data mapping, historical mapping, and territory mapping.

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Cultural Anthropology for the academic year 2024-2025. We are seeking dedicated candidates who are committed to delivering high-quality undergraduate courses at UNLV.
This appointment carries a 4/4 teaching load, and will include instructing courses such as "Introduction to Cultural Anthropology," "Magic, Witchcraft, and Religion," and "Signifying Identities." Salary is $49,140. The successful candidate will commence their role on July 1, 2024, and must hold a PhD by that date.
We welcome applications from candidates specializing in all areas within cultural anthropology.
