See taxcourtexam.com for our statistics and other details.

We are the most successful Tax Court exam prep program - since 2002, more than 80% of those who have passed have been our students or used our materials to study.

07/02/2024

Registration is now open for the next cycle exam prep course. The early bird price for the Traditional 12 Month Program runs through 11/1/24.

We are also offering a Premium Access Program that provides additional access to the instructors, but this is space limited and will disappear once we hit our maximum enrollment.

To those of you still (patiently or not-so-patiently) waiting for results of the 11/8/23 exam, one of our students called the Tax Court today and was given information about the results process:
He was told that exams are graded and will be released this month, but the Tax Court doesn't know exactly when that will happen. They will establish a portal that exam-takers can log into to obtain results rather than sending them out to you as was done on 5/6/22 for the 2021 exam. Presumably you will receive some notification about the portal and instructions for its use.
I hope you all will soon have your results.

For us, we've started planning the 2025 exam cycle program, but I need more details on how a couple of our 2023 program students fared so I can determine whether we continue them in 2025. As soon as this is determined we'll be able to go live with registration details.

If you haven't done this already, you can add your name to the list of people who are interested in the 2025 exam information at taxcourtexam.com. We plan to open registration early this summer.

We’ve learned about actual Tax Court practice from Keith Fogg, an incredible professor with 45 years of tax controversy experience. Listening to him is interesting and entertaining. The past two days were a great time to connect with USTCP peers while learning so much! I am so pleased to offer advanced training in addition to education that helps students pass this challenging exam.

The Court was behind the normal time frame for each step of the 2021 exam (from notifying examinees in May to admitting those who passed in late October), but we finally have information about the first remote exam.

For 2021 there were 161 examinees, 19 passed, 11.8% pass rate. The pass rate was lower than the last several cycles, but within the range found over the past 20 years.

I'm proud that 15 of the 19 who passed were our students (we've helped roughly 80% of those who have passed since I started this program in 2002). We opened our 2023 exam cycle officially on November 1, but there is still time to join us if you want to take this most challenging exam. You can find more information on our program at taxcourtexam.com.

A successful 2021 exam taker contacted the Tax Court Admissions office today and was told that "admissions for the non-attys are expected to be by August 31."

The process is much slower this cycle. I was recently told by someone that the Tax Court had just started reviewing the video files for those who passed.

So, if you're waiting to be admitted, it appears you'll be waiting a bit longer.

I'm shattered to share that my dear friend and mentor to countless USTCP students passed away this morning. RIP Clay Brown, EA USTCP - you will be missed beyond measure.

He was a student in my first class in May 2002, and mentoring students in the last cycle (2021).

If you haven't already applied to tax the 11/17/21 Tax Court exam, you're nearly out of time. Remember you must apply no later than 10/8, but why wait until the last minute? Take care of this now if you haven't already done so. You won't get an acknowledgement unless you request one. You also don't need to name your sponsors in the application - it's ok to indicate you'll provide them at the appropriate time (which is after you are notified that you passed the exam, when results are released next spring).

Make note of these other important dates also if you are taking the 2021 exam (from ustaxcourt.gov website):
