Do you know an outstanding undergraduate researcher that is doing incredible research? Nominate them for our monthly undergraduate feature by emailing [email protected]!
This month, we're featuring Seonghyeok "Sammy" Cox, a senior majoring in biochemistry and member of Dr. Pradip Bhowmik's Materials Chemistry Lab. Since Fall 2021, he has been working with the group as an undergraduate researcher where he synthesizes, purifies, and characterizes novel organic compounds for use in extensive applications such as ionic liquids and discovering new alternatives relevant to green chemistry. He currently serves as a Supplemental Instruction leader for organic chemistry, supporting his fellow peers in their academic and career goals.
David King, nominator and fellow undergraduate researcher, says, "Sammy is always willing to take on new projects and help others; he even works on his research through the weekends and studies for his classes while his experiments are running. He has a big heart and deeply cares about the members of the lab. Every lab needs a Sammy, and we are immensely grateful to have him on our team."
