I had an urge this morning to create a photo to get me in the feeling of the autumn season when it is still close to 100 degrees in Vegas.

I get up before sunrise everyday and let Maggie out to do her business. I aways check up the sky to see if there might be a nice sunrise to view or photograph. This morning I noticed a lot of interesting clouds so we headed out to Kyle Canyon road and was surprised to see that the cloud cover was low and the east was socked in but to the west, the mountains were popping out of the low lying clouds. Happy Easter everyone!

Goldfield Nevada Photography Workshop
Saturday September 28th, 2019 10 am to 4 pm
Las Vegas based photographer Larry Hanna is teaming up with Goldfield Photographer and resident Jeri of Just Jeri Photography and Tours to conduct a photography workshop in the historic town of Goldfield, Nevada. Jeri has access to many of the historic buildings in Goldfield and is a wealth of knowledge about the history to this amazing town. We will be entering the aging Goldfield High School that has been closed since 1952. The high school has some incredible photo opportunities. We will also be visiting a couple of the original homes and offices that give you a glimpse into past lives of Goldfield’s residents.
Goldfield is located on Route 95 about 185 miles north of Las Vegas. Driving time is around 2 1/2 hours. If you want to stay over and get some sunrise and early morning exterior images, Jeri has some awesome places to stay in. Be aware that there is only one place in town that serves any food past 3:30 called the Hoist House Saloon, soon to be renamed the Mozart. She serves Fish and Chips, Chicken Strips, Pizza and Nachos. The only cafe in town is the Dinky Diner. They are open from 7:30 to 3:30 every day but Sunday when they close at 2:00. Tonopah is only 30 minutes away and has many places to eat.
The cost of the workshop is $149 and limited to 10 photographers. Price includes lunch. A large portion of the proceeds will go to the Goldfield Historical Society.
You may pay the $149 through Paypal account [email protected]. Indicate that it is for the September 28th workshop

Have you ever driven through Goldfield and wanted to go inside the closed and "haunted" Goldfield Hotel? You can on March 30th at a photography workshop I am conducting with Goldfield resident and photographer, Jeri Foutz. This old hotel was reported to be the most spectacular hotel in Nevada at the time of its completion in 1908. The hotel was in use as such until the end of World War II, its last occupants being officers and their families from the Tonopah Army Air Field.
