Hero School creator, Tiger Todd, was honored with the Humanitarian Award for nearly 3 decades of community heroism, helping tens of thousands of men and women break free from homelessness in America.

Tiger Todd - Hero School - The Recipient of the "Humanitarian Award". The Award is given to honor individuals whose contributions & commitments to Las Vegas community exemplify compassion & humanitarianism. The Award Honors outstanding individuals for their humanitarian and volunteer activities.

🎞: In 1975, Carmine Infantino was a guest on the children variety show “Wonderama”. As he discussed the importance of comics to a younger audience, Infantino did live sketches of DC characters Batman and The Flash. Carmine Infantino (1925-2013) worked on several DC books such as Green Lantern and Black Canary in the 1940s. While illustrating for Westerns and superhero comics, Infantino was asked to pencil the return of The Flash in 1956 for Showcase #4. With a clear, refined linear style, he not only brought back to life the incredible speed and design of Flash, but also reinvented characters such as Adam Strange, the Elongated Man, the Batman and Batman Family. In the 1960s, Carmine Infantino penciled in several important moments in the Caped Crusader's comic book history, from introducing his 'new look', to reviving old rogues such as the Scarecrow to even introducing new heroes such as Barbara Gordon's Batgirl. 🎞️: Trailer for Lambert Hillyer’s 1943 Columbia Pictures 15 chapter serial film “The Batman” or simply “Batman”. Starring Lewis Wilson (Batman), Douglas Croft (Robin), J. Carrol Naish (Dr. Tito Daka), Shirley Patterson (Linda Page), and William Austin (Alfred), Chapter One titled “The Electrical Brain” was released 82 years ago today on July 16, 1943 by Columbia Pictures.🦇🎥 #Batman #Robin #DC

Long Live the Bat Man

According to Jim’s Steranko’s “The Steranko History of Comics (1970), Bill Finger once said that cartoonist Bob Kane “...had an idea for a character called 'Batman', and he'd like me to see the drawings. I went over to Kane's, and he had drawn a character who looked very much like Superman with kind of ... reddish tights, I believe, with boots ... no gloves, no gauntlets ... with a small domino mask, swinging on a rope. He had two stiff wings that were sticking out, looking like bat wings. And under it was a big sign ... BATMAN”

After writer Bill Finger was brought in to ghost write on the ‘Bat-Man’ project, not only did Finger do major design changes to Kane's original vision of the Bat-Man, such as changing the red and yellow color scheme to blue and grey, the domino mask to a cowl, the stiff bat wings to a flowing cape, but he also made Bat-Man a scientific detective, even adding gloves to the vigilante's ensemble. Those elements and Finger's brilliant stories mixed with Kane's superhero vigilante persona refined the character as the dark icon of the DC Universe to Superman's bright image, and the Bat-Man was launched in Detective Comics #27 86 years ago this month on March 30, 1939. 🦇📚
