The UNLV Chamber Music Series presents The Redfish Piano Trio in "Reflections of Shadow & Light" at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 10 in the Rando-Grillot Recital Hall of the Beam Music Center. The Redfish Piano Trio (Genevieve Lee, piano; Fritz Gearhart, violin; Andrew Smith, cello) performance includes Mozart'sTrio in G Major, k. 564; Soir et Matin, composed by Mel Bonis; and Dvořák's Trio in F Minor, Op. 65. The UNLV Chamber Music Society was created in 2012 to fill a void in the chamber music community in Southern Nevada. Until this society was introduced, there were no established chamber music societies in all of Southern Nevada, despite the community of artists and students who could appreciate and benefit from it.

In addition to the invited ensembles, the UNLV Chamber Music Society also showcases local musicians, giving them a world-class stage and an established venue through which they can create and perform.

Congratulations to Dr. Liz Valvano on her participation in the International Double Reed Society Conference this July in Oxford, Ohio.

Dr. Valvano will present a lecture-recital, Storytelling Through Sound: Narratives in Chamber Music, and will also participate in the conference’s poster competition with her research project, Where in the World are the Women Bassoonists?

We are proud to see Dr. Valvano representing the UNLV School of Music through both artistic performance and scholarly research on the international stage. We wish her a successful and inspiring conference!
