Nevada School of the Arts

On September 26, Nevada School of the Arts and The String Connection welcomed Dr. Maureen Yuen, Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at the University of Nevada, Reno, for a violin masterclass at the Fifth Street School.

Five young violinists, students of Mary Straub (Nevada School of the Arts) and Shakeh Ghoukasian (The String Connection), performed works by Mozart, Lalo, de Bériot, and Sarasate. Each then received individual coaching from Dr. Yuen on tone, phrasing, technique, and interpretation.

Congratulations to Alice Johnson, Ethan Almond, Mia Barbosa, Lucas Jiang, and Alexys Espinoza on their performances. We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Yuen for sharing her expertise, and to Mary Straub and Shakeh Ghoukasian for their dedicated preparation of these students.
