We have had questions about Testing at JOY. Yes, we do test - we keep track of what the kids are doing and how they are doing (always looking for a reason to celebrate!) but we do NOT do the testing frenzy that is so rampant at too many public schools. SGO scholarship students do a norm referenced test at the end of the year and anyone wanting to take that test may do so by paying the testing fee. Those standardized tests typically confirm what we already know about each student. Our students spend more time doing hands-on projects and sharing their learning without the high pressure testing. It’s how they discover that learning is fun and why they want to come to school!
