Tonight the Citadel of the Golden Sun ritually marks the end of Tempus Eversionis and the beginning of Tempus Sementis...

"Now is the time to embrace the rebirth all around us. The cold embrace of winter fades, giving way to the warmth of the sun's caress. I am reborn in this place of renewal, witnessing the rebirth of light.

Now I stand in the radiance of the great pyramids, the balance of day and night aligning once more. The fertile floods of the Nile return, enriching the earth, as lush as the green fields of Aaru.

The sycamore blooms; the earth warms under the stars of Nut - where shall hope take its root? In the fertile fields of Osiris, amidst the abundance of life, I sense the awakening of the land. The chill of the night recedes, and I rejoice in the sun's vibrant reign.

Tears of joy like the Nile's bounty, celebrating dreams ignited by the returning light. My vision clears with hope. The world spirals in the light, awaiting the dawning song of Ra, now revealed in the mantle of the seen."

Move to the Northwest, facing the Southeast. With solemn reverence, grasp IUBAR and raise its pommel towards the sky, saying,

"O mighty Ra, as your chariot conquers the night, so too must this blade travel. From the evening's rest to the morning's gateway, let this sword mark the path of your radiant journey."

Move with deliberate grace to the Southeast, facing Northwest tracing an arc above with the pommel, and place the sword down gently in its new Southeastern location, point facing Northwest.

Okay, “double-cube altar” folks of various stripes - do you trim and sew and fit your full-length altar cloths, or do you just wrap all that extra cloth to the sides?

As you stand at the threshold of Tempus Eversionis, the season of profound spiritual alchemy in our Ogdoadic journey, it is crucial, as practitioners and seekers on the path of High Magick, to delve deeply into the symbolic richness of this period. This time, beginning with the winter solstice, is not merely an astronomical occurrence but a profound metaphor for the inner transformation that each of us is called to undergo.

In the mystical dance of the cosmos, the winter solstice represents the shortest day and the longest night, heralding the symbolic 'death' of the sun. This phase in our magickal calendar is a powerful reminder of the ever-present cycle of death and rebirth that permeates the universe. It is a time when the outer light diminishes, inviting us to turn our gaze inward, to the inner light of awareness and self-discovery.

This period of Tempus Eversionis is, however, a gateway to higher levels of being. Each cycle through the seasons is not a mere repetition but an upward spiral in your spiritual evolution. It is an opportunity to shed old skins, to let go of what no longer serves, and to prepare for the rebirth of your higher selves. As you delve into the darkness of this tide, you mirror the sun's retreat, embracing the transformative power of the shadow, and preparing for the emergence into a new cycle of growth with the sun's return.

The rich tapestry of solar myths from Egyptian to English traditions offers profound insights into this journey. The nightly journey of Ra through the Duat in Egyptian mythology is a powerful allegory for your own passage through Tempus Eversionis. Similarly, the ancient Druidic celebration of the winter solstice as a moment of death and rebirth resonates with the profound transformation undergone during this tide.

The spiritual and magickal practices during this season are vital tools for facilitating this inner alchemy. Rituals of renewal, shadow work, the study of mythology, and creative expression are not just ceremonial actions; they are profound acts of engaging with the deeper aspects of psyche and the universal patterns of the cosmos.

As you embrace the transformative power of Tempus Eversionis, incorporating rituals of renewal, shadow work, the study of mythology, and creative expression into your practice can profoundly deepen your journey.

Rituals of Renewal
1. Solstice Ritual: Create a ritual to mark the winter solstice, symbolizing the death and rebirth of the sun. This could include lighting candles to represent the return of light, meditating on personal rebirth, and setting intentions for the coming cycle.
2. Cleansing Bath: Prepare a ritual bath with salts, herbs, and essential oils that align with renewal and purification. As you immerse yourself, visualize shedding old energies and emerging renewed and refreshed.
3. Altar Rededication: Rededicate your altar or sacred space for the new cycle. This can involve cleaning the space, rearranging or adding new items, and consecrating it afresh with your intentions for growth and transformation.

Shadow Work
1. Journaling: Use journaling to delve into your subconscious. Write about your fears, unexplored desires, and unresolved conflicts. This practice helps bring these aspects into conscious awareness for integration.
2. Meditative Visualization: Practice guided visualizations where you confront and converse with your shadow aspects. This can lead to greater understanding and acceptance of these parts of yourself.
3. Tarot or Divination: Use tarot cards or other divination tools to explore aspects of your shadow. Reflect on the messages and symbols that emerge and how they relate to your inner journey.

Study of Mythology
1. Read and Reflect: Select myths from Egyptian, English, or other traditions that resonate with the themes of death and rebirth. Read and meditate on them, drawing parallels to your own spiritual journey.
2. Group Discussion: If you're part of a study group or circle, organize discussions about these myths. Sharing insights can lead to deeper collective understanding.
3. Write or Reenact: Write essays or stories, or even reenact scenes from these myths. This active engagement with mythological material can lead to profound personal insights.

Creative Expression
1. Artistic Creation: Create art inspired by your inner journey through Tempus Eversionis. This could be painting, sculpture, music, or any form that resonates with you.
2. Ritual Drama: Write and perform a short ritual drama that encapsulates your journey of death and rebirth. This can be a powerful way to externalize and understand your inner transformations.
3. Poetry or Songwriting: Express your experiences and reflections through poetry or songwriting. The rhythmic and symbolic nature of these forms makes them particularly suited for exploring spiritual themes.

Remember, these practices are not just rituals or exercises; they are gateways to deeper self-understanding and spiritual growth. As you move through Tempus Eversionis, let these activities guide you in your ascent to higher awareness and integration on the path to Adepthood.
