Per the Cleveland Clinic - a calcium score test is a CT scan that examines calcification of your coronary arteries = which indicates buildup of plaque. It's a noninvasive test that only takes 10-15minutes for the entire procedure.This isn't a comprehensive cardiac work-up, it can't detect all forms of CAD, and isn't a absolute for predicting risk for heart attack, but it is a cheap and easy diagnostic tool that can give insight to your current condition and be a useful tool that you and your physician use to determine any further treatment/diagnostic planning.
