Questions, predictions, observations, data, claims, evidence oh my! Oh…and bubbles for the win. 🫧
We ended this week with our first investigation in science to help us understand how we structure our science notebooks. We also took our first fact fluency challenge, setup our ELA notebooks, started organizing our portfolios, and ended the day with our introduction to Ancient Civilizations looking at ancient art-cave art.
Just another day in paradise at NVSI!

Before the first bell rang, our teachers were already hard at work getting everything ready for an amazing year. The families at NVSI are grateful for a staff that pours this much heart into day one. ❤️

"The transition to 6th grade felt so much easier at NVSI because the teachers actually know your kid." — Sarah Calvo
That's what middle school should feel like. We still have room for a few more 6th graders this year. Reach out to learn more!

🌲 Above the clouds and loving it! 🌲
This was an unforgettable day out on the trail with our NVSI crew! There’s nothing quite like the view from the top after a good climb — tired legs, big smiles, and a whole lot of team spirit. Outdoor education isn’t just about the destination; it’s about resilience, connection, and learning to push through together. 🥾⛰️
We still have a few open 6th grade seats for this fall. Sign up for a tour and discovery meeting today. www.nvsi.org

Resharing this post because it’s so true!
Two more weeks until we start it all over again. Year five here we come!

As an educator, I’ve watched what traditional middle school can do to children…especially girls.
The hesitation.
The social pressure.
The slow fade of confidence.
When we built NVSI, we were intentional about creating a space where girls think deeply, lead boldly, and build real friendships rooted in respect.
Small community.
High expectations.
Strong voices.
If you’re raising a daughter who asks big questions, challenges ideas, and deserves to be seen — I’d love to personally show you what we’re building here.

Enrollment conversations for rising 6th graders are happening now.

An important part of inquiry-based education…slowing it down and reflecting.
We pause not to stop, but to notice.
What do I already know about this topic?
What worked?
What didn’t work?
What changed?
What do it want to know about this topic?
Reflection turns moments into meaning —
and learning into wisdom.
