We had an incredible turnout at the Fall Hospitality Hall Career Fair! Over 500 UNLV Hospitality Management students stepped up to connect with leading employers across every aspect of the hospitality industry, including hotels & resorts, private clubs, food & beverage, golf, meetings & events, sports, entertainment, and casino gaming.

Students explored internships, full-time careers, and student part-time jobs with top industry partners from the Las Vegas Strip and throughout the country.

Bistro410, a student-driven restaurant, is back this semester! Our favorite pop-up restaurant is accepting reservations for the fall semster. Students in this course create and execute their menus, under the guidance of Chef Lindsay and front-of-house expert Koco Heo.

Interview ready 💼

30+ executives and directors from Caesars Entertainment (Caesars Entertainment) came to Hospitality Hall to run our hospitality management students through 150 mock interviews.

Mock interviews are incorporated into HMD 200, where students focus on building strong communication skills, management compentencies, and interpersonal skills to prepare them for the job market. Having industry leaders share their time and feedback gives these future leaders an advantage as they step into their careers.

Thank you to the Caesars team for spending the day volunteering and mentoring the next generation! Getting direct feedback from industry leaders is invaluable!

Finding the right mentor is like finding the mac to your cheese 🧀

Yesterday evening, we held our Mentorship Reception at Sahara Las Vegas. The room was bustling as Hospitality Management students met with mentors to kick off the academic year! We heard remarks from Dean David Cardenas along with Sally Yaskin.

Sally established the John Yaskin Scholarship in honor of her late husband, John Yaskin, an industry icon who championed the college’s hospitality mentorship program and was also a mentor himself.

Thank you to all of our mentors who help make this program thrive! A special shout-out to alumni Niki Mack and Derek Morish*ta for hosting us at AZILO Ultra Lounge.

Behind the scenes at one of Las Vegas’ premier venues 🎫 🎶

Students in Sport and Concert Venue Management (TCA 464) recently visited The Smith Center for the Performing Arts — the first of four site visits planned for this semester.

During the tour, students gained insight into how The Smith Center became the art hub for Las Vegas, from the construction of the building and its architecture to funding the management of a non-profit art venue. This visit punctuated what they are learning in their lectures and how their lessons can be observed in real life.
