The work we do is impactful, and that means it lives rent free in my mind. I am proud of all of my students and the growth they make in each session!

We are our own worst critic. Over the years I have been teaching, I have fine tuned emotional support for my students without doing so for myself, too. Be the same cheerleader for yourself that you are for your child.

Having trouble making integers make sense? Try thinking about money.

Instead of memorizing a bunch of rules for positive and negative numbers, give the numbers some meaning:

➕ Positive = you have money / you're in surplus
➖ Negative = you owe money / you're in debt

Now integer problems become a little more like real life.

If you have $8 and owe $3, you can see what’s happening: you still have $5.

That same thinking can help students make sense of integer addition and subtraction instead of relying entirely on rules they may forget.

The goal isn't just getting the right answer, it's understanding WHY the answer makes sense.

Save this for the next time integers come up in homework! 📚✨
