Tip Of The Day #5 Gift cards are for gifts. If anyone - for any reason — asks you to pay them in gift cards, hang up immediately.

Tip Of The Day From The Internet Lady:
"Two-factor authentication is like a deadbolt on top of your regular lock. It takes 10 seconds to set up and can save your life online."

The Internet Lady says: Two-factor authentication (2FA) means that even if someone steals your password, they still can't get into your account without a second verification — usually a code sent to your phone. Turn this on for every account that offers it, especially email, banking, and social media. Go to your account settings and look for "Security" or "Two-Step Verification." It is one of the single most powerful things you can do to protect yourself online, and it's free.

Tip of the Day #4
That urgent email from your bank asking you to 'verify your account immediately' is almost never actually from your bank."

The Internet Lady says: Banks, the IRS, Social Security Administration, and Medicare will almost never contact you by email asking you to click a link and enter your information. This tactic is called "phishing" — and it's designed to look exactly like the real thing. Before you click anything, look at the actual email address (not just the name), hover over any links to see where they really go, and when in doubt, call your bank directly using the number on the back of your card — not the number in the email.

Your password is the lock on your front door. Would you use the same key for every door in your life?

The Internet Lady says: Using the same password for multiple accounts is one of the most dangerous habits online. If a hacker gets into one account, they now have access to all of them. Create unique passwords for every account — especially your email, bank, and social media. Can't remember them all? Use a password manager like Bitwarden (free) or 1Password to store them safely. You only have to remember one master password, and the app handles the rest.

If someone online seems too good to be true, they probably are. Real people don't need to rush you.

The Internet Lady says: If you've met someone online — on social media, a dating site, or even in a Facebook group — and they seem absolutely perfect but you've never met them in person, slow down. Scammers create dream personas designed to make you feel special and then ask for money, gift cards, or personal information. A real person with real intentions will never pressure you to move fast. Take your time. Do a reverse image search on their profile photo (right-click the image and select "Search image"). If that photo shows up attached to a different name, you've found a fake.
