I just wrapped up summer tutoring, and I’m so proud of every scholar!

Watching their confidence grow and seeing their hard work pay off was the perfect way to end the summer.
With my younger learners, we focused on strong reading foundations letter names and sounds, blending CVC words, word families, and building toward grade-level reading.
With my older scholars, we dove deeper into reading comprehension, practicing inference skills, text evidence, and understanding an author’s purpose.

A reminder for parents: tutoring isn’t only for students who are struggling. It can also help children build confidence, strengthen skills, stay sharp over school breaks, or get ahead before new concepts are introduced.

I’ve always been a reader. Starting with The Baby-Sitters Club in elementary school, to The Cheetah Girls books(before the movie), followed by a serious Clique series obsession in high school, and now I’m a proudly certified Kindle girlie (currently loving the Legendborn series by Tracy Deonn!).

Because reading has always been such a big part of my life, I knew I wanted my kids to experience that same joy.

The truth is, a love of reading doesn’t happen overnight. It’s something we nurture over time. Here are a few simple ways we’ve been raising readers in our home:

🤍 Start early. Reading starts at home. Whether it’s before bed or a few quiet minutes during the day, those little moments add up. We are our children’s first teachers.
📚 Visit your local library. Let your child explore the shelves and choose books that spark their curiosity. Giving them ownership makes reading even more exciting.
🌿 Be the example. Our kids notice everything. When they see us enjoying a book, they’re more likely to see reading as something worth doing too.
✨ Keep it fun. Reading doesn’t have to happen on the couch every time. Try a backyard reading picnic, cozy blankets and snacks, or let your child read with a flashlight under a fort. The goal is to make books a joyful part of family life.
We’re not just teaching our kids how to read, we’re helping them discover why they love it. And that’s where lifelong readers begin. 💛

I’ve had so many new faces join my little corner of the digital universe, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Ms. Bee—virtual educator, homeschool mama, and neurodiversity advocate. I started my virtual tutoring business in the fall of 2020 to help friends and families navigate e-learning. Fast forward five years, and I’ve created a virtual learning hub that supports all learning styles, helps students grow academically, gives parents practical tips and support, and takes a mindful approach to building confidence while reducing learning anxiety.

Last month, I celebrated five years of running my tutoring business, and it still feels surreal.

In April 2020, while teaching my fourth graders online, helping my daughter Bri with her kindergarten e-learning, and being 6½ months pregnant, I saw many families overwhelmed by e-learning. To help during such a chaotic time, I decided to offer free tutoring sessions to any elementary student in need of support.

A few months later, after successfully navigating e-learning as a teacher, I stepped away from the classroom to stay home with my kids. That September, I sat down with a notebook and mapped the beginning stages of my virtual tutoring business.

Five years later, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help students grow, close learning gaps, build confidence, and provide parents with the support they need. What began in uncertainty has turned into one of the most rewarding chapters of my life.
