To help fuel all the behind-the-scenes work happening before our students return, The Coffee Class generously provided our staff with coffee and pastries to kick off the new school year ☕️🥐

If there’s one thing a certain mustache-wearing Kansas coach taught us, it’s that taking on a new season isn’t about the wins and losses on a scoreboard—it’s about helping everyone on and off the field become the best version of themselves.

As we gear up for the 2026–2027 school year, the Whitney Elementary team is stepping onto the pitch with High Expectations and Higher Belief.

Here is what we know to be true:

Teaching isn't always easy, but as Ted would say: "Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse, isn't it? If you're comfortable while you're doing it, you're probably doing it wrong."

Our fifth graders are off to middle school. To ALL of our promoting 5th graders: You worked hard, you grew so much, and you are officially ready for the next big adventure. "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."-Eleanor Roosevelt

Field day was amazing! The students had so much fun getting wet, participating in action packed stations, and refreshing at the popsicle/water station. It was wonderful seeing all of our families participate as well. Thank you Station Casinos and Wildfire Gaming
for supplying the popsicles and helping with the event. Whitney is where the magic happens. 💙💙

The fifth grade students had the opportunity to visit Las Vegas College last week for our annual Etiquette Luncheon. Our students dressed to impress. They looked absolutely stunning in their Sunday best! They practiced using table manners and engaged in polite table conversation. What a wonderful day! A huge thank you to the staff and students at Las Vegas College, Peter Mikhail and Sally Bemis for providing this elegant experience and making our kids feel like VIPs.

🎬✨ That’s a wrap on Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week — Day 5 was simply Wicked! 💚🌟

We ended our Hollywood-themed celebration with more unforgettable “Walk of Fame” moments featuring the true stars of our school ⭐📸 Staff also enjoyed our movie of the day, Wicked, bringing a magical ending to an incredible week 🎥🍿

To make the final day extra special, staff received the perfect movie box in their mailboxes filled with candy, popcorn, and a drink 🍬🍿🥤 They also received a Whitney Dollar to spend at the concession stand for one last movie-star treat! 🎟️✨

A huge thank you to Faith Lutheran for providing a delicious Cafe Rio lunch for our amazing staff 🌯❤️

Throughout the day, staff put their movie knowledge to the test with our “Guess the Soundtrack” game 🎶🎬 Songs from famous movie soundtracks played over the intercom, and staff had to guess which movie they were from, such a fun way to end the week!

We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to Station Casinos for the daily Amazon gift card raffles and to Findlay Nissan Henderson for the restaurant gift cards that were raffled and awarded as prizes throughout the week for our games 🙌🎁

This week was truly amazing, and we cannot thank our community partners, donors, and supporters enough for helping us celebrate our incredible staff.

To our teachers and staff: thank you for everything you do each and every day. You are the real stars of our school, and we are so grateful for you! 🌟❤️

Our Hollywood celebration continued with even more “Walk of Fame” photo moments featuring the stars of our school ⭐📸 Staff also enjoyed our movie of the day, The Sandlot, a classic favorite that brought all the fun and nostalgia! 🎥🍿

A sweet highlight of the day was everyone enjoying their own individual ice cream scoop, generously provided by Ben & Jerry’s 🍨❤️

Staff had a blast playing “Now Showing: Star of the Show,” where they guessed who each staff member was based on their childhood photo 👶📷😂

One more day left of Teacher Appreciation Week, and we are loving every moment celebrating our incredible staff! 🌟❤️

🎬✨ Day 3 of Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week was cleared for takeoff! ✈️🌟

Our Hollywood movie star celebration continued with more “Walk of Fame” photo moments featuring the true stars of our school ⭐📸 Staff also enjoyed our movie of the day, Top Gun, keeping the movie magic going strong! 🎥🍿

Our amazing staff absolutely loved their breakfast this morning, generously provided by Station Casinos and Wildfire Gaming 🍳☕ Staff also enjoyed a special Teacher Appreciation Week cake from the Walmart team on Sunset and Marks 🎁❤️

Staff had a blast participating in our Paparazzi Scavenger Hunt, snapping fun photos all around campus 📷✨ The fan-favorite challenge? Taking a silly picture with the principal 😂👏

To top it all off, staff discovered a special cookie treat waiting in their mailboxes 🍪💌

We are so thankful for the incredible energy, dedication, and joy our staff brings every single day. More Hollywood fun still to come! 🌟❤️
