The type of lithium we put into electric cars is usually Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide or (NMC).
The type of lithium we put into RV's is Lithium iron phosphate or LiFePo4 batteries.
You may have seen videos of scary electric car fires exploding and burning for a very long time.
That is something that can happen in NMC batteries, but not LiFePo4 batteries.
LiFePo4 batteries just don't get as hot and even if you were to chuck one into a fire they don't break down as easily as NMC batteries do.
So LiFePo4 batteries don't fuel the fire the way NMC batteries do.
We use NMC batteries in electric cars because they charge faster and have a longer range.
But we use LiFePo4 batteries in RV's because they are safer.
This is an all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares situation.
Both NMC and LiFePo4 batteries are lithium.
And NMC lihtium fires are very scary.
But LiFePo4 just doesn't explode and fuel fires the way NMC batteries do.

Phew. I hope this helps you sleep easier at night.
